Hi. I'm new here, and not very good at Na'vi. I know some grammar... concepts, but apart from that, I'm not very good.
So I hope to learn and improve and eventually be able to insult others other than calling them a moron/idiot or saying I will kill them (as those are pretty much the only things I can say).

I also like Glee. That's how I realized it's possible to learn to speak Na'vi. Weird, huh?

Some less important/relevant information about me: I'm a web design student, been studying for about 3 years, I'm American, a teenager, obsessed with politics, enjoy song-writing and love music, and I'm a strong supporter of Anonymous.
That's about me in a nutshell.

So... Kaltxí, frapo!!

Woot! The ONE reason why I love Glee xD

Totally welcome here, we are a loving and diverse bunch who love everything na'vi and avatar. You'll love Na'vi. It's SO much easier than English xD

Btw,  Oe lu skxawng, no need for l on oe :)

Glee... it is his/her first post and they have already used up their lousy show points?

Welcome to the forum. I see you are already versed in how to use them, noticed your mouse over.

There is a VAST community in Facebook as well... just name search standard names from the movie and eventually you will find a few that have mutual friends and boom, yer in.

Kaltxì, ma 'eylan ulte Eywa ngahu.

The ì code is ALT 0236. the ä is ALT 0228

Haha. The instant I told my friend (who's obsessed with Glee) that I'm learning Na'vi, she's like "*GASP* How do you say 'You have pretty eyes?' ". I'm just thinking Naturally.

From what I know so far, I agree. I wish I grew up learning it... tempting to make my children bilingual, come to think of it. ;D

Kaltxi, zola'u niprrte' :).

Alt codes are just that; hold the alt key and type the number with the numpad (the top row won't work).

Kaltxì, ma tsmuk!
When I first came to the forum -two years ago- I was afraid of being called a skxawng but nobody called me like this!  :)
I would not say that Na'vi is easier than English but the community is lovely and you'll find good friends and supporting teachers here! So, go ahead!

Irayo fpi sìkaltxì, ma frapo!
^Had to improvise there. How'd I do?

Incidentally, does anyone have any tips on kind of practicing the language? Like a homework-esque type of thing to drill everything into my mind. I "took (some) notes" today in an effort to try to remember some things (ie verb tense infixes), but not much help.
Never thought I'd ask for homework... weird.

PS: I figured out how to make ì on mac laptops (w/o a number pad.) It's option+backtick (`), then i.

I hate alt codes. O_O If you are a windows user, please look into kxwerty, a layout I built for windows users SPECIFICALLY for typing in Na'vi quickly and easily. http://j.mp/navkbl

not bad. fpi means more "for the benefit of", and you cannot invent "tìkaltxì" or any otehr word with tì- nì- le- or sä- [...] yourself. ;) "Thanks for the greetings" is an interesting thing to say because we do not know a really straight forward way to say it. but anyhow, the frame for thanking for something is

[thing you are thanking for]-ri irayo (seiyi) (oe) (ngar)

here though, you might say "as for this: you have greeted me, I thank you" which would be "furia ayngal oeru kaltxì soli irayo seiyi oe ayngar." but again, that's a wordy workaround (only that I could think of off top of my head) for "thanks for the greetings" O_O

check out the threads on here. we have many good chat threads. like these:

I went through the dictionary in the "Learn Na'vi" iPod app, but greeting wasn't there, so I had to make up a word. This is good to know, now I'll only use fake words when it makes sense to use fake words (I'll try to avoid making up words in Na'vi, but in english I do use them when it's necessary and the meaning is obvious, ie like now.)

So say I could invent words. It would be "tìkaltxì-ri irayo seiyi oe ngar."?
Incidentally, what does "seiyi" mean, and the -r and "ngar"
