Kaltxì frapoya!

As I did in the German section of this board already, I'd like to introduce myself to the English speaking members, too.
Actually, I guess it's the best, when I just translate what I've said in German already:

It's so unbelievable, what the film did to me and I'm highly infected.
I have to add that I didn't see the film until four weeks ago for reasons only Eywa knoiws. In total, I have seen it ten times or so now. And it's still getting better...

It had a huge impact to my life, because the film is working on so many levels for me.

I'm not sure if I can describe it to you in English, but I try: Thoughts and feelings came deep out of me. Things I had lost a long time ago but still belonging to myself have been unrevealed. This definitly changed something - that's for sure.

Let's face it: I've fallen in love so much with Pandora, the Na'vi and the language of the Na'vi that I have to cry tears of joy. As I said: unbelievable. And beautiful. Period.

Irayo. Eywa ayngaru.

P.S.: You may want to know, what I do, when hamster wheel is spinning: I'm a field service representative for a publishing house, as well as being a software engineer for applications used by our in-house staff. Actually, a lot of work has accumulated during the last two weeks here in my office, because of reading too much Na'vi-PDFs and reading a lot in this board as a guest. (tsahey! I hope my boss never reads this  ;))

Irayo ma aytsmuk.

First of all I want to thank all of you.  Every free minute I am learning now. It's so much fun!

For the next weeks I've planned al least two hours daily for learning sessions. It's so much fun to learn the vocabulary, but it's so hard to bring up just one sentence in Na'vi, but I can see results and I get better step by step.  :)

MY PROBLEM:
If I read something in Na'vi I have to look up nearly every word. Some I don't find at all.
Here's an example:

"How old are you?"

Holpxaype    zìsìt    ngari           solalew?

Holpxaype     zìsìt    nga-<TOP>  XXXXXX ?
How many    year   you             ......? :-[

XXXX = are? / XXXX=old? / XXXX= have been born? / OR WHAT?

I do not find "solalew" anywhere, and I can't explain it to myself. - I am lost in translation.

So I ask: If I have questions like this, what shall I do? How/Whom can I ask?

What I would do:
1) Use the Forum's search engine to see whether your question has already been asked.
2) If not, go to the Beginners subforum and post your problem there in this thread or open a new thread.
3) Never hestitate to send someone a Personal Message, because most of the people here will help you (in English or in German ;))

Kìyevame ulte Eywa ngahu.

solalew is just the word salew with the perfective infix <ol>. salew means proceed, go so s<ol>alew means has proceeded.
so the question is: how many years have you proceeded?

every time you see a word try to simplify it to find the root word. for that you need to learn the affixes of the language so you can detect them.

if you still have a problem just ask in the appropriate section of the forum (the Begginers' section is good for this) and everybody will be happy to help you.
