Utran Tävìtitan

This is just by way of saying 'Kaltxì ma Frapo' with my first post. I registered just today, but after a lengthy lurk. It's time to come in from the cold!

Regarding my chosen name, Utran is (I hope) a word with no previous meaning, which seems to be the way with Na'vi names. The second name is my take on 'son of David', obviously my father's name. (I fully expect to be corrected if I've gone wrong already!)

By the way, I'm not in the least sensitive about people correcting my Na'vi (or even my English, come to that) and I really doubt the folks here would think of hesitating!

I'm not a natural linguist, and have never tried to learn another language, natural or constructed, but for reasons I don't really understand, Na'vi still fascinates me 18 months after realizing it's real and not just a few made up phrases. So now I'm going to make an effort to learn it properly. Where better to be but here?

And about me? A tawtutan living in the county of Surrey in the southeast of England, but prone to spending his spring times in Palm Springs, CA.

Avatar is still a favorite movie, and I do run it from time to time. It was when I'd stopped reading the subtitles to know what the Na'vi were saying that I realized this thing was already seeping in through my skin.

Hello Utran Tävìtitan and welcome.  Browse around the forum and use the resources made available to you, they will help a lot.  I personally suggest the na'vi in a nutshell guide.  Feel free to ask if you still have a question.

Nice to see that so many people - including you ;) - are still interested in learning this beautiful language.
The Na'vi-in-a-nutshell guide is really useful for beginners. It helped me a lot.

If you have any questions, please ask.

Thanks for the welcomes.

I have 'Na'vi in a Nutshell' downloaded and am at work with it. It's an excellent introduction. Well done NeotrekkerZ! I also downloaded the dictionaries and
William Annis's 'Horen Lì'fyayä leNa'vi'. I think that will be more useful later on. I like the introduction. Very good.

Welcome on the most friendly forum in the world.
At first I advise you come to this stuff and read this language studying tips. If you want pick language easier, it's only one way - try to speak. And don't be afraid of errors and ask all that you don't understand. Everyone here will be glad to help you.

I remember the feeling when I realised I could understand Na'vi lines that were not subtitled :P

Welcome ma Utran!

There are many other beginners here, so you won't be lost. Learning Na'vi now is also easier than before, since there is now more documentation and ressources about it.

Feel free to participate where you want and to ask questions. Have fun!  ;)
