Kaltxì!  Ohe nì'i'a tolätxaw!  Txana krr, kea kame...

Normally I don't drop off the face of Eywa'eveng unannounced, slä fìkrr ma oeyä eylan, lu fmawn akawng: I've been losing interest in the language :( :(  This has been due to the fact that hardly anyone has been speaking it with me.  I can write it, but it's not the same as speaking it.  I've tried TS, but every time I've gone in there, it was empty.  Oe lolängu nì'awtu :(

Tse, 2 months and counting!  What brought me back?  I'm here mostly to finish up important last-minute stuff regarding the trip to Seattle.  After this post I'm gonna check my PM box....

I seriously hope no one here's forgotten about me.  Chances if you're replying to this post with a profile pic, oeru nga smon.  'Awlo soaiä hapxìtu, frakrr soaiä hapxìtu.  Chances are I'll be able to rekindle the meoauniaea leNa'vi within a matter of moments here :)

Also, I've been trying to simplify and focus my life's path, and part of that was to stop coming here.  Apparently when I signed up for this forum I had forgotten the fine print, with the disclaimer that says, "Ngal kawkrr fìtsengit ke hivum fu txivìng." ;D  It has taken me some 4 hours to go through the forums!  Krr lehawng!

That being said, I'm no longer planning on visiting the international forums or anything below that.

...Ulte MA OEYÄ EYWA FÌTSENG SOM LU NÌHAAAAAAWNG!!  Temperature here has been triple-digit lately q; Additionally, a wildfire hit near my area of my hometown!  Thankfully I didn't have to evacuate, oe zeio.

Finally, I no longer plan to use ikran{at}skxawng.lu due to too little usage.

Ma Oma Tirea, keep in mind that you have much to offer this community. You are known as one of the maore articulate speakers here, and this is a skill that a lot of us have similar challenges to what you are now experiencing, in trying to acquire.

There seems to be a 'social network' mentaility that is prevading the internet right now. I see it on the one major social network (Facebook) that I am even a little active on. It is not as bad now, but it used to be when I would log onto Facebook, I would barraged with people wanting to instantly chat, friend requests from people I have never heard of, requests to play silly, time-consuming games, etc. I really hated it and avoided Facebook as much as I could. I am an extremely busy person, and could not for the life of me figure out why people would spend so much time on Facebook. Thankfully, this has improved a lot, and I can log onto facebook now without being overwhelmed.

This same thing has happened on LearnNavi as well. There was an initial burst of enthusiasm that lasted for more than a year after Avatar first came out. Then, things slowed down. For a while, I think there was an expectation that LearnNavi would be another kind of Facebook, with all sorts of activity all the time. But with perhaps 500 truly active people here (I consider someone with more than 100 posts, who as been here in the last 30 days, as 'active'.), it didn't happen. This did not surprise me, as I have been on other boards (the Narnia forums, especially) that have deep peaks and ebbs in activity. This is normal, and I think something not to be too concerned about.

In any case, this may explain why things like teamspeak may be quiet. There are less people here, and people in general are more engaged in 'trivial' things like making a living, or caring for a family. I think the time of things like Teamspeak being a 'cool Na'vi social tool' are pretty much over, and you need to plan live conversations with other. Live conversations have to happen in real time, and this real time aspect prevents a lot of folks from being more active there. Message boards are more popular because they do not happen in real time.

Perhaps the long term fix is to set up a time and place, on say, a monthly basis, where people can get together and talk Na'vi. Do it at a time when people who know you are likely to be available. If you make it frequent enough to be a regular activity, but infrequent enough that it does not become a major time burden for people, you might get some people to participate. Maybe even me. Like many good things in life, it takes some real effort and persistence to get it going and keep it going. But I know you believe in the basic concept on Na'vi, or you wouldn't have lasted as long as you have.

I, too have had to back off on Na'vi and Dothraki, because other things going on in my life have crowded in, and kind of crowded out other activities. But my interest is as strong as ever. And now that these 'crowding activities' have subsided, I am picking up the language interest again, not so much as a 'restart', but as 'accelerate from a lower to a higher speed'.

I intend to be here long-term, as one of the 'gatekeepers' here. I have committed myself to mastering Na'vi (which I am still a long ways from, but have made substantial progress), and so I monitor things here virtually every day. When activity is low, I don't spend a lot of time here. I also try and focus my activity on the forums that are important to me, and largely ignore the rest. there are forums here I have never even looked in, let alone posted in, even after nearly three years. Being able to get involved with something, and sticking with it, is a skill that a lot of young people have not yet learned, but you will as you get older.

I am very much looking forward to AvatarMeet, and spending some time talking to you. I was hoping that our group travel arrangement would have worked better so that we would have had some time 'in transit' to work on bettering my Na'vi speaking skills. Prrton has been helping me with this as well, but he is also a very busy person, so our chances to work with each other are usually a few months apart.

Stick in there, ma oeyä 'eylan. You are an asset to this community.

Unfortunately I agree with the post above. I post here, usually replies to threads I like to watch, but not much else. Still, it is activity. Now, if my mate were here with me, I have no certainty if I would be on here more or less as she is into Avatar as well and an active poster here.

As people gradually find work, they may filter out. The chronically unemployed are either going to be getting work or losing the internet due to the 99 weeks running out and needing to cut back on expenses.

Also, our first wave of Avatar fans were a majority, late in high school or in college. Those years are filtering away and soon real life wil be knocking on their door. So I imagine that they have a heavy course workload and it is difficult for them to get on as much as they would like.

Others still have quit cold turkey, like our sister Le Eylan. We miss her and wish her the best, naturally, but understand. It basically comes down to personal priorities.

Just thought I'd offer that.

Ma Oma Tirea, I always looked forward to reading your posts.  They were rich and meaty to me, sometimes providing a chuckle, sometimes provoking thought.  When you posted that you were withdrawing, I felt the loss and it made me sad.  I understood that there are reasons for participating and sometimes even more for NOT.

I am very glad you are back.  Paddle at your own rate and post only to those things which are meaningful to you.  I hope you will keep at least a big (purple) toe in the water here even if you won't be able to fully immerse yourself.   ;)

Welcome back!

I realize that I am one of the main members of this community.  I'm still kinda trying to figure out how I'm still an asset.  Recently I did release my KenKen nìNa'vi....

When I hang on TeamSpeak, I usually find some people practicing the language.

My low level hasn't improved by lack of time, but this does not prevent me from hanging here since I am still interested in it.
