Adding new words is less of a priority as no one has reached the end of the existing course yet - and it's complicated as the memrise 'bulk entry' appears to be broken at the moment.
But not all people follow the course step by step - for example I go through lessons randomly. I'd prefer to add new vocabulary, as I know "older" words, but have problem to remember the new ones.

The course stats currently show that levels 63 to 89 inclusive have not been completed except for level 87, where only one user has completed that level.  Of course, that doesn't mean those levels  haven't been started by anyone.

However, my main motivation for not adding them at the moment is because memrise 'bulk entry' is broken - the only way to do that would be to manually type the Na'vi, English, and part of speech into the appropriate boxes and hit "add" - 64 times.  Not only would that be laborious, I would much rather wait for memrise to fix their 'bulk add' (hopefully on tomorrow) so that there's less chance of typographical errors creeping in to this process.

Kaltxì ma frapo!

I've now added to the "All Na'vi Vocabulary" course the following new words.  For those following the official dictionary thread, I've posted about ingyentsyìp vs ingyentsyip.  Pawl's Naviteri blog has our conventional tsyìp ending, so I've taken that as the correct version for now.  I'll keep an eye on any decision on this word and update memrise as necessary.

I've still left lonataya in place for the time being - it seems that deleting it will make level 10 a 19 word level.  For the time being, feel free to set this word to "ignore" so you don't have to learn it.

Please report any errors with the words in the course in this thread.

Can you raise that in the main dictionary thread please?

I want to make it clear that I am updating Tirea's "All Na'vi Vocabulary" memrise course myself (those who are on Facebook will understand why this is an important point to make at this time.) It is my intention to document all my updates in this thread - not only for those using the course, but also so that Tirea is aware of the changes which have been made.

If there's an error in memrise but not the Na'vi to English dictionary, please report it in this thread.  Otherwise, if the error is also in that dictionary, please report it in the main dictionary thread.

Irayo!

In our series of stupid questions, how on Memrise can one co-edit courses other people have started? Did I understand correctly that is what is going on? You see, I have a habit of falling in and out of going on this forum and Memrise... The day before yesterday I noticed the PM you had sent me  (for some reason I cannot reply to it!) and went to make my Na'vi adpositions course public (very helpful after all this time /sarcasm), but anyway, it would be great if someone with a lesser tendency of just disappearing than I would be able to keep the course up to date and add audio samples and whatnot.

Not stupid. :)

I think that question has come up before, but I can't find it in the horrid memrise forums - I'm not going to quote an answer from memory in case I mislead.  I have asked the memrise people about this though.

However, as things currently stand, the course creator has no way to grant "edit" privilege to other memrise users - which is a real shame.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to reply to my PM - but I've forgotten where I sent that now... was it Facebook or here?

Palu is correct. Tirea has invested a lot of trust in me recently on various issues. However, in this case, I wanted to sort out the "part of speech" which wasn't working very well on his course - it didn't show when you were being tested. Having discussed that with the memrise people, it turned out that the solution to this was going to be a lot of laborious work (basically, manually re-typing the part of speech in for every word in the course.)  Tirea didn't have the time to do that, so I volunteered, and as Tirea felt he can trust me, he gave me his memrise login details. With 1800 words, it took a few hours of typing. :)  So, I don't blame Tirea for not wanting to do it himself; he has better things to do (like teaching Na'vi) rather than long boring jobs like that!

Originally, it was just something temporary to sort out the "part of speech" but he later gave me permission to update the course with the LN.org dictionary changes, which, although I can't automate that, I have developed tools so I can efficiently update the course and check it back to the reference information.  You see the results of those tools with those coloured tables of updates - I just paste their output into LN.org and slightly edited afterwards (to remove the lonataya difference and differences in the English for the "that"s).

However, I will not be making other changes without Tirea's express permission (which is rather difficult to get at the moment). I would dearly like to get audio into his course (I feel sure it would really help not only to remember the word, but also assist in my diabolical pronunciation) but it's Tirea's course, not mine. Without that permission, it would be a violation of the trust Tirea has invested in me.

It was here, but you sent it in November or something so no wonder you don't remember which it was. I get an error message which states "couldn't find user". :/ But anyway, the adpositions course is now public if that is of any help anymore.

Technically, this is off topic for this thread... but looking back to my very first post, it still seems to be owned by me, so my ID hasn't changed on the forum.  Not sure why it couldn't send it then.

Back on topic...
The memrise folk normally take about 24 hours to respond, so we should have an answer for you tomorrow.  Thanks for making the Na'vi Adpositions course publically viewable though... and of course, thanks for creating the course in the first place (it's my only completed memrise course so far!)

It would be nice if it could be updated to contain all of the adpositions - there are 43 in total - here's the full list from the current dictionary, sorted alphabetically and marked up, with the ones not in your course in bold:

äo-, eo-, fa-, few-, fkip-, fpi+, ftu-, hu-, ìlä+, io-, ka-, kam-, kay-, kip-, kxamlä-, lisre+, lok-, luke-, maw-, mì+, mìkam-, mungwrr-, na-, ne-, nemfa-, nuä+, pxaw-, pxel-, pximaw-, pxisre+, ro+, rofa-, sìn-, sko+, sre+, ta-, tafkip-, takip-, talun-, teri-, uo-, vay-, wä+

I can produce a file from the dictionary data which has just those "new" adpositions in, which you can then paste into the memrise database bulk add for your course.  You then would need to add them to the levels and create a new level.  (I don't know if recreating the levels might wipe out your students data - I've been avoiding doing that with Tirea's course.)  Or we can wait to hear back from the memrise people...

Really this is what it's about. Sometimes people don't want every word in the dictionary just so they can learn/practice one type of words  ;D

You're suggesting that an Adpositions course which contains 37 out of the 43 there are is reasonable?

To me, it's rather misleading. You get to the end of the course, and you think "Great, I've learned all the adpositions!" Ah, but you haven't, you're missing six of them which are buried in some other course elsewhere with almost a couple of thousand words... Also remember, nothing on memrise forces you to finish a level before you can use that practise button, neither does it require you to ever finish a course.

So, I'm afraid I can't agree with your comment.

Taronyu Leleioae

I have to admit, I liked the separate adpositions course and had made notes on the ones that were missing.  Once I had those down, it was easier to see them quickly in sentences and understand the meanings without having to look up words I didn't recognize.  It makes for a good starter for someone to learn without being inundated with all the words at once.

Herwìna

I think Palu meant that the idea of the adpositions course is good rather than that the missing adpositions are ok  :P

you are correct. I was hoping eventually it would get updated to contain them all.
Personally I think the whol thing should've been split up into sections.
Adpositions, Plants, Animals, etc.etc. this way those that don't feel the need to learn all the plants that don't exist here on 'Rrta could get on with the one's they are interested in for functional conversation
