Printable Na'vi Flashcards
« on: August 06, 2014, 11:06:31 pm »
I made a document, when printed front and back, make flashcards all ready to be cut out.

This guide is missing a few words! It was made with the Learn Na'vi Dictionary 13.02 published on November 2nd 2013 so any words added after that are not in here. Words from the Na'vi Loan Words, Proper Nouns, Flora and Fauna, and Non-Frommerian Words are also omitted since I originally made this document for myself and felt those sections were more trouble than they're worth.

Disclaimer: A lot of this work was done by hand, so I may have occasionally underlined the wrong syllable, or pasted the wrong definition and not noticed my mistake. If you do find an error make it known in this thread so others will not be learning wrong materials.

EDIT: Included a version without the first 2 introduction pages in case you want to skip those to save paper/ink. Not recommended for people who don't know how to double-sided print on single side printers.

This is actually pretty impressive. How long did it take you to do this?

I just checked the modification dates on the old drafts, it took me about 10 days during last winter break, I think I watched the entirety of the US Office on netflix during the busy work sessions.

Don't mean to be rude, but... what for? Why paper flashcards? Is there a single thing they're better at than SRS?

I actually have switched to memrise, since I like it more. However, there might be some people out there that prefer paper flashcards for whatever reason, so I thought I might as well make it available just in case.

For some people it is actually more useful to connect a sensory input to the learning experience (same experience that people have when actually writing vocabulary down on paper instead of learning them off a book).

Great work that you’ve done, ma Sarah! You can never know who will benefit from it.  :D

With paper cards you are not limited by computer's battery and internet access :)
Every kind of learning material has its pros. Good job, anyway. There's was similar project before - colored flashcards. I don't know link here on forum, but I have that file downloaded (I think), so if you want to compare, here's link

Hey that's quite cool and very similar. :) Only thing about that one is that the words are large, but really light grey which is slightly hard to see/read imo. And it was from a time when we had 1400 words. We now have ~ 2020 (Tewti! So many new words!)

Ha! If I had known this existed I wouldn't have bothered with mine. :P His doesn't have margins like mine, I was contemplating that something like that to maximize paper usage, but I was afraid my printer wouldn't be able to print that close to the edge of the paper.

Your version contains more words, it is more actual - so you didn't waste time. Just if you'd use that project as base, you could be faster with work. But new words are still coming ;D Such project is never ending story
