I was making an octal to decimal converter on my graphical calculator when I came up with the idea to make a little document concerning math in base eight. Expecially because the Na'vi use base eight. It contains 4 pages as of now: converting/adding/subtracting/multiplying and I'm figuring out dividing myself because that is more difficult due to the appearance of fractions etc.

You can find it in the attachments below.
If anyone wants a printable version (to get an A5-booklet) tell me and I'll rearrange the pages.

EDIT: Already a new version... Corrected a few things.

Seysonìltsan.

You might consider extending the addition subtraction charts to vosìng and adding my color-coded multiplication chart.  I have plans to get a division chart out there, fraction and decimal forms included.  Once that's done, feel free to include that too :)

I've seen your multiplication chart and I used it to make mine. You only need from 7 to 7 with the way of multiplying I described.
The same goes with the subtraction and addition charts. I'd love to use your division chart when it's done, until then I'll try to get some more information on that myself.

...and it's done.  It's in fraction form, so if you want octal decimals, you'll have to do the number crunching for now.

That's great! You don't mind if I copy it into my guide, do you? :-[
I will first have to find a nice deviding method so I can include an example.

Feel free to use/copy that chart, and good luck on devising methods for octal division.

Well, good work! Now it's LEP's turn - we need words for plus, minus, multiply, divide, equal and possibly also squre root and integral ;D

Kawkrr ke tsunslu.  The Na'vi aren't that mathematical.  All they've ever really needed is sung and 'aku ;)
