Ma oeyä smuk,

I finally finished the longest project I ever have done: the Na'vi Frequency Dictionary. I hope this will be useful for you especially for the beginners. :)

Here we have it:

The Na'vi Frequency Dictionary

And for those who are interested, in the download area, one can find the database and some other stuff. :)

As always, feel free to post here or PM me if you see mistakes.

Txantsan. This is great. I'm very happy you've managed to accomplish this, it will be very helpful for learning for beginners.

The results are interesting, especially the infrequent words. Do I have to assume we have 8 pages of useless words, or aren't we yet ready for flawless Na'vi?

I am glad you like it. :D

0% doesn't not mean that a word was not used or is useless. :) Probably it was used in the beginner sections, or in the international boards, or somewhere else in the forum. I used only the Na'vi, Pamtseo and Pamrel nìNa'vi nì'aw boards as souce, because they are the places where Na'vi was used frequent.
Also, with more added stuff, it would be a work of infinity. It was a work like in hell to get all the words one can read in that document. The only person who can really imagine how much work it is, is Tirea Aean.

I can imagine what an enormous chunk of work this project must have been. If you'd also had to filter out the Na'vi from mixed forums, that would be very painful :/

I don't always do repetitive jobs, but when I do I get tired quickly :D

Just how long have you been working on this? I suspect it's been since I came here, well over a year ago.

A little History:
The idea to create such a dictionary was mentioned in this topic from March 2013. I originally tried to use the databases Markì has offered there, but with all the html, bb-code, quote-in-quote stuff I stopped working on it. I re-planed my whole project to make it more "human", and started to collect manually all useful stuff from each post that were posted in those three boards. I finished the word collecting on July 24, 2014 as mentioned in the document. From that date, I sorted that huge text monster, put them into an excel list and started to extracting all attached adpositions and all affixes plus fixing tons of typos and incorrect words. That looks like
This was so time consuming, that's unbelieveable... I needed one year for this.

I think, nobody with the right mind would do that what I did, but yeah, I am crazy. ;D

So, it is basically a window into the language up until July 24, 2015. Otherwise you'd have to do/add to it every time the community posts something new...

Some of the words are a bit unexpected to be so high up in usage, others I predicted would be like that.

NB
Believe me, I know how time consuming such a work can be. The same is true of the annotated dictionary. Finding all the quotes and 'official' examples was/is hard work too ;)

Yes, it's like a snapshot. I thought about to add also the missing part,
but it would be a work for ever. Additionally, I don't think there was
added so much content and I am not going to update this regulary,
because it needs way too much work.
I intended to have a file that helps beginners with learning vocabs, to
have numbers for other projects that can use it for example in a "word
repeat generator" or something similar. I know that with time new words
will be come up or become more frequent etc. but this dictionary should
remain useful for some times (of course, not forever).

As for your annotated dictionary, I totally can imagine that.

Nìprrte'! :D :D :D

QuoteOnly the top 50 have been listed for some time, but as of now I am adding words regularly, and we hope to include the top 500 eventually.
I think, the database has more than 1500. :)

I'm a little afraid of overwhelming the new learners. :-X  Of course, they don't have to do all 1500 in that memrise course.... :P
So, okay, I can change the introduction again to reflect that. :D

Hmm, let say 250 of the most used words, and the beginner don't get overwhelmed, I hope. However, irayo nìtxan for adding it! :D
