Hi everyone!

A few days ago, I was thinking... if one wants to create a language, where can one do it? I searched on google and I found conlang.org (although I still am not sure if anyone can use it to create his own language) and conlang.wikia.com. But, as for this second one, it is like a "wikipedia", and it is not the very best functional system ever.

So, I thought on creating a forum for those who want to create a language/learn a created language/help others creating their language.
I have not thought about this very much yet, however anyone who wants to create a language would have a section in the forum and permission to moderate the section of his language; if one wants more than one section, there would be the need to do something (invite friends, for example).

However, I am not sure if it is a good idea, which is why I created this thread here, to ask you for your opinion.

Your model for running such a site is a little different, but you'd be in crowded company.  The Zompist forum is a very active conlanging place, and a somewhat less annoying wiki, Frath Wiki, is a reasonably popular place to document a language.  With the Conlang Blog Aggregator one can keep track of a lot of active language development.

I'm not sure your site would get much use.  That said, it's always dangerous to make predictions about the internets.

Hello, wm.annis,

I checked the websites you mentioned, and I must agree with you. It is always hard to get members to a forum, however I think that, as there is no other website like my idea, I could have success.
Of course, it would deppend on how I make the forum to be known (i.e. advertisement).

I am very thankful for your feedback.

The really hard part is advertising your site. You need a strong selling point for users to choose your site and not any else. With a forum the key of success is also having several active members. Almost no-one will join a forum with no activity.

Yes, of course there is people that is doing it, but unless the activity raises active there is a very large risk that the board simply dies. Although the dothraki board does have an acceptable level of activity.

Anyway, if you are serious about this I could help you with hosting, even though I probably wont get to engaged in the site itself.
