NICHT-KANON: Middle Na'vi
« on: October 26, 2014, 05:05:28 pm »
I chose this because my ''tribe'' (Omokan) speaks middle-modern Na'vi. The middle Na'vi is more used for the ceremonies.
However, the scientists don't have much informations about this tribe.

- In the middle Na'vi, some phonemes of the old Na'vi disappear and are replaced with the current phonemes. However, the ì will appear much later, in the middle-modern Na'vi, which means that tì- is t-, is s and -tsyìp is -syp (even if ts exists since forever);
- At the beginning, the conjugation will look more like the old Na'vi one, but the infixes will modernize as the phonemes are changed;
- ke, rä'ä and si can go before or after the noun or adjective with which it makes the verb, and the pronoun can go between the two particles.
- As the time passes, the middle Na'vi looks more and more like the modern Na'vi;
- All the words created by the influence of the humans are not there. However, tawtute means star before it was replaced with tanhì;
- In the early middle Na'vi, the conjugation looks like the one of the old Na'vi, but it will quickly change.
- words with gender don't exist until a long time: olo'eykyu, tsmuk (tsmuktu tsmuke, tsmukan), tute (tutan, tuté), 'eveng, 'evi.
- Case endings: -(i)ti -(u)ru -(e)yä, -l, -ri, then -ìri and -ìl and the shortened forms (middle-modern Na'vi).

In the middle-modern Na'vi, the language looks more like the modern Na'vi.

Interesting. So, they called a star "skypeople". ??? What was Uniltìranyu / Uniltìrantokx?

Hmm, as for the case endings, there was once a theory that the older Na'vi had "full" case endings like the topic -(ì)ri for patientive, dative and genetive: -(i)ti -(u)ru -(e)

(It's non-canon) As if stars were people. ;)

I'm following Irtaviš Ačankif's theory a little bit.

I know it's not canon. I just think this view is interesting. :)

Ok, so they all exist. But ì doesn't exist.
I rather mean that there was no "short" form like -r, -t or -ä.
So, in your Middle-Na'vi it would be (i)ti -(u)ru -(e)

Edit: I see you already edited the OP. :D

EDIT2: Probably, I think I saw somewhere the idea of -ìli for the subjective case.

I said that because it's a bit ''Cameron only knows''.

I know it's off-topic, but may I ask what game that is?
