I don't actually know if it has been posted already or not, but just for those who are intrested in the technique of the making, this might be very cool to watch:

Link to Gizmodo

They basicly are talking about the big elements of the movie: training, technology, props und designing the enviroment.

also, you see Paul frommer and the actors learning the language :D

Edit:

also at about 15 minutes you see a short scene that i belive was not in the movie (Na'vi in the control tower)
"You Humans are all racist" -pissed off Turian guy

"You know what really pisses me off? Calling this the "cockpit". Alliance ships have bridges. Asari have cockpits. Oh wait, no they don't."

O.o interesting

thanks for the link i will check it out

see some of the special effects etc.

Man, as an actor, that GIANT blue screen built for the 3-d and backdrops would be the biggest pain

Yeah, good stuff. Lots of interesting details.

EDIT: btw, here's a thread discussing the piece of Jake's script that you see:

That was great. See we need a lot of that stuff on the dvd/BR. Plus bloopers like at the end, but also the bloopers from when they were in the marker suits, and they actually turn it into the final product like in toy story. the finished 3d bloopers.

Perhaps this is one of the missing scenes that will be added the extended edition, when the other avatar drivers take over the control tower (source is from the original scriptment page 144)  You can even make out the spinning blade of the slash-cutter.

The same video (split into parts) is on youtube:
link.

If you see a mistake in my post please correct me!

Please help on the Movie Lines in Na'vi wiki page

Watched the whole video. It's interesting to see how they made the film with all the technology they used. Makes me want to watch the film again now >.<

That's the 2007 screenplay, not the original scriptment which is from the 90s, and is more of a collection of plot points rather than a fleshed out movie script.

Side note: The slashcutter is based on a real piece of equipment used for clearing forests...  It's got a heavy spinning disk with teeth on the edge and front for cutting/grinding on a long hydrolic arm, with a pair of grasping hooks perpendicular to the blade for grabbing trees as the trunk is being torn through.  I forget what they call it, but I saw it on discovery/science/history (Forget which) channel.

Yeah, I think it's mentioned in the making of thingie, but it was something like 1995 or 1997 or something he originally wrote it, but the effects people basically told him to shove it because technology couldn't handle his vision at the time.  Or something more or less (More less than more) along those lines anyway.

Bugs life...  Yeah I know what you're talking about I think...  Except scaled up on a massive level.  The scene cut from the movie the avatars (Besides our heros) used it to cut into the control center, cutting a huge hole in the building, and that's about the scale of the real thing.

also, that giant earth mover we see in the mines is real too and may be cose to that size, although probably a little smaller.

Naw, it's about that size:

Swok Txon

HOLY JESUS

oh that's the machine in the Guinness world book of records

pretty dam huge

lol @ the people in the 90's, even if it was ridiculously expensive to make, if they had, they would be millionaires!

But then i wouldn't be here :-(

Here's the digger from the movie for comparison. You can see that the movie one's a bit bigger but not my much.

That was a great video to watch. And yes... around 14:40-15 is like 1/2 a second of that deleted scene with the slash-cutter vs control tower.

I cant wait for the dvd.

Swok Txon

after the first month of me owning it, it will be set on fire because i wouldn have watched it and the special features over and over times a bazillion!

Just saw a BTS on Mtv, I found the video's here:

http://www.mtv.com/videos/movies/465651/what-defines-james-cameron.jhtml#id=1628392
This one was the most interesting:
http://www.mtv.com/videos/movies/465655/anatomy-of-an-avatar-scene.jhtml#id=1628392

Edit: Hm, I see those are only small parts from the whole BTS.

i really hate how mtv really ruins everything they show thats pretty cool. they keep jumping back and forth between things. it doesn't keep my interest.
