I know about the archery and horseback training but when I was watching a behind the scenes video, James Cameron was making her learn martial arts and trying to teach her how to move like Neytiri.  What kind of training was that or what kind of martial arts?

So far from the published interviews , there was no mentioning of what type of exact martial arts Zoe Saldana did - at least from what I know .

Here's a few written interviews :

Yes, they indeed all had special training so there movement will be more realistic and reliable, for instance the actor that plays Jake actually train for some time with the marine's unit.

archery is part of many martial arts.
Moving and most important landing/falling correctly (means whitout braking most of your bones) is very important part of any martial art.
So they had to have experts to train them, not some tango - mambo teachers. Would be of no use to them.
Also there was a fair bit of hand-to-hand.
From all the weapons you have used against us, we always feared your guns least!

Indeed the actors in such big movies train with experts. But we stll don't know what kind of martial arts it was, I just assume it's a mixed and not just one sort.

Based on the spinning, tumbling, and tendency to crouch for combat, my guess would be hapkido. Its a Korean martial art. when i saw her jump over jake's body to defend it from Tsu'tey that was my immediate thought. I could of course be wrong though :)

Might be, I think might be one of those that she needed to train in. Pretty sure that for instance Jake had to do some boxing/street fight training.

For Jake I am thinking that he went through Marine Corps Martial Arts. I have sparred full speed full contact with a number of graduates and the counters he uses are textbook with the exception of failing to trap Tsu'tey's knife hand after the whole mating fiasco. But yeah, MCMA is an eclectic mix that goes from kempo to boxing to israeli martial arts so it looks like a crazy dude on the street. The give away for me was the arrested movement. He never moves his hands farther outside his core than he has to to effectuate a move and he never defends past the second circle.

What ever they trained them with they at least seemed to retain it :)

Yes seems logical, also an some interview, I just don't remember which one and where it was, Cameron said that Jake indeed spend some time in a Marine training camp to catch up the moves. Indeed they seem good on the screen with the various movies (all the participants).
Israeli martial arts? you mean the one we doing in the army probably, I know about that :).
