Did the server get rolled back or something?

Because both my farm and my mine have just vanished and the forest which I'd spent an hour removing has reappeared...

Yeah, the server was rolled backed.  Someone set fire to a forest and the fire spread so much that it caused the server to crash whenever anyone got close to it.
I'll be re-setting up my server today on my new comcast router and I'll be using bukkit, any anti-griefing plugins you can suggest?
Also did you get my pm?

I really hate griefers. I had a few go in my server the first damn night I left it up all night, my friend was in there building and he fell asleep at his computer so he couldnt ban them. No idea how they got in there.

I just installed Big Brother on the server, it lets you roll back a single persons edits to the map, haven't had a chance to actually test it out yet.  Also WorldGuard is pretty nice.  I'm currently using it to disable creeper damage to the landscape.  And I did get your PM.  What is your minecraft name?

Yeah, earlier on I was mistaking creeper damage as griefer damage.  Once I realized what was going on, I decided to disable it once I found a plugin that would handle it.

It'll be nice once Bukkit is more fully developed.  Things tend to break often with it since it is still very early in its development cycle.  For now I just try to update things only when I have to and then try to fix things that break when I do updates.  Its a vicious cycle...

yeah, creepers can be a real b****, especially with everything I've seen built in there already. Plus it disables griefers from using them to their advantage, so if they plan on doing any kind of mass damage they have to make TNT which is hella time consuming.

don't suppose anyone will donate some tools/time to help with my mine.

Going for the awesome looking over the practical and it's going to take a while to get down to a level where decent materials will be common...

(first need to dig a 3x3x201 tunnel before even starting to go down as I'm going to make a massive staircase out of it with bridges spanning the narrow gap.)

(Might make it 5x3x201 so it looks a bit nicer.)

Neytiri: Now you choose your woman. This you must feel inside. If she also chooses you, move quick like I showed.
Jake: How will I know if she chooses me?
Neytiri: She will try to kill you.

Obsidian is pretty rare to find naturally.  Its much quicker and easier to make it yourself, just apply water and lava together.  Depending on how you mix them together you will either get CobbleStone or Obsidian...

the lava water trick is you have to find a pool of lava. It cant be a lava flow.
