Minecraft in the Na'vi language
« on: June 20, 2015, 12:41:10 pm »
Well so I've picked this little project back up! :D I'm keeping everything I have translated in a spreadsheet now! with lots of lines translated and untranslated! Which should be located at this link! If you have any ideas how to translate something, or word something better please say so!

Fixed thoes errors you gave ma Blue Elf (or they should be fixed, I got them in the file fixed at least). Also I should watch out more for typos. oops.
Also I agree that what I have for cobblestone doesn't seem correct, but I don't feel tskxe angawnop is correct either. I'll think on that.

So since I've been playing Minecraft a far amount recently I've decided to try translating Minecraft into Na'vi, though there's already a thread but that hasn't been active since 2012 at least, so I figured I'd start a new one (though I admit I took some from the last thread). Just as something I'm interested in doing, even if I'm not the greatest at Na'vi (yet). Just going to be posted what I've gotten so far, and any help would be appreciated. :D

Done: Hasey

Yes: Srane
No: Kehe
...

Very nice and interesting idea, ma Tìlu  :)

Good idea! If the vocabulary is not too much complicated, let's create Maynkraft!

Instead of 'awa tute, I would use nì'awtu.

I know that there've been attempts in the past, I probably still have some files left on my hard drive somewhere. Anyway, some words:

Helmet: hawre'
Chestplate: masat
Leggings: raspu'
Boots: hawnven
Sword: tstal
(These will be paired with these adjectives:)
Leather: leflawkx
Stone: letskxe
Iron: lefngap

Bed: nivi
Mushroom: spxam atun/akllvawm
Bucket: sähena
Lava: txekxumpay
Milk: okup
Lead: säzärìp

I'll post more when I find those files.

So for say, a stone sword it would be letskxea tstal? Just wanting to make sure I'm getting that correct before adding them.

If you're concerned about sticking strictly to words that exist, then you can't use *letskxe, since it doesn't exist. I'd say tstal tskxeyä would be fine. Possessives work just as well as adjectives, if you don't have an adjective for something.

Multiplayer: Pxaya tute

Play Multiplayer: Uvan si hu pxaya tute
I would choose these instead:

Multiplayer: Nìolo’ or Nìsoaia
Play Multiplayer: Uvan si nìolo’/nìsoaia

sähena

Also I think paysena would be better for bucket. Sähena can be chest.

Coming up with names for some of the items is going to take some creativity. :P Here's my ideas:

Gold: Fngap Ioiyä
Diamond: Tskxe Ioiyä
Emerald: Tskxe Tsyeymä

For ores (iron ore, gold ore, etc.) we could add mì Tskxe to the end of the name. Ex: Fngap mì Tskxe

Redstone: Rima Tskxe / Tskxe Arim
Redstone Dust: Rima Tskxeyä Fwep / Fwep Tskxeyä Arim

Horse: Pa’li

Minecart: leFngapa Pa’li / Pa’li leFngap ?
Minecart Track: Tsmìm Pa’liyä leFngap / leFngapa Pa’liyä Tsmìm ? hrh

For potions perhaps we could use the word ’umtsa? Ex: ’Umtsa Tìtxurä

Okay I'm done for now. Sorry for spam-posting.

Just some thoughts...

Multiplayer: Nìolo’ or Nìsoaia
Pxaya Uvansiyu = "many player" ~ multiplayer
uvan si ayuvansiyuhu (alahe) = "play with (other) player"

Also I think paysena would be better for bucket. Sähena can be chest.
sähena = container, vessel, carrier
It is a general term for a container. Paysena would mean water container. But, I don't know what kind of bucket is meant. For liquid stuff or also solid things?

Gold: Fngap Ioiyä
Diamond: Tskxe Ioiyä
Emerald: Tskxe Tsyeymä
What would be the solution for "silver", "platinum", etc.? I would use loanwords or fngap arim or something like. As for diamond, it is technically a crystal and I think in Na'vi would be a word for it as crystals are usually very common on a planet's surface, also, it was shown in the Avatar game.

Okay I'm done for now. Sorry for spam-posting.
