Vawmataw:

--- Quote ---So fte works as a modal verb?
--- End quote ---
The only thing the modal verbs and fte share is to require the use of the subjunctive in the next verb (verbal complement or verb in the clause).

Tìtstewan:
Verbs after fte requires <iv>.

Tamoltem snatxäremti ngal fa swìzaw ta tseng a lìm.
==
You have shot the skeleton by (using) a bow from the place that (is) far.

Yeah. So like modal verbs, fte creates the subjunctive. Sorry, I wasn't implying that fte was a modal verb.

I'm still not seeing the necessity of that phrasing for the second bit, though. I don't see why "Tamoltem snatxäremti ngal fa swìzaw ta alìm" isn't proper.

preposition + lonely adverb = incorrect :)

Tìtstewan:
*Tamoltem snatxätawti ngal hu swìzaw ta alìm.
You have shot the sceleton with a bow from at a distance/far away.
 - ta need a noun and from what?
 - hu doesn't fit well here, because hu litterally mean "accompaniment with somehone"

Plumps one:

Tamoltem snatxäremti ngal fa swìzaw ta tseng a lìm.
You have shot the skeleton by (using) a bow from the place that (is) far.

You shoot from a place and that place is described by the a lìm part.
