Minecraft in Na'vi (WIP)
« on: February 09, 2011, 08:37:31 pm »
I may have been away from the forums for a shameful amount of time, but recently I've been wanting to continue my Na'vi studies. I ended up deciding that I should mix two awesome things; Minecraft and Na'vi.

In a nutshell, I'm trying to translate the entire gui of Minecraft to Na'vi (by editing the language file in the .jar folder). I figured I would post my progress here and hopefully get some help from the community on some of the more difficult words. Some words (like "Buffer" and "Render") will probably not end up getting translated, but at least most items will be able to be.

This post will be updated with revisions as they come. Very little progress has been made so far.

Current as of Feb. 14, 2011

Woo!
I came up with a sentence for "Save and quit to title" but I can't remember it...

I saw this old thread and it seems like an awesome but vanished idea... :(
So I tried to redo some translations and add some new things as well, I think I succeeded quite well, but there's still a long way to go untill this is finished...

Time to revive this thread as Jens (jeb_, now lead developer of the game) had put in language support. I've sent him a personal message on the translation project:

Quote
Hello Jens,

I know you must be terribly busy but still I'd like you to have a thought about translating Minecraft to the (relatively) new conlang Na'vi. We're not yet as far as Klingon translating Hamlet (or as we call it "Hämlet"), but the language is growing every day. There are a lot of people learning this language with active support from the creator of the language (dr. Paul Frommer).

There is an amount of learners that play Minecraft, the unofficial (but highly recommended) Learn Na'vi forums even have their own servers. I've been translating Minecraft into Na'vi since even before you started putting language support in the game and it would be an honour to me, to all my smuk (brothers and sisters) and I'm certain to dr. Frommer if we could join this translation project.

Livu Eywa ngahu frakrr! (May Eywa always be with you!)
EMIBH

P.s. If you want more information about the Na'vi language, I suggest visiting learnnavi.org or dr. Frommer's blog naviteri.org

Not bad, too bad we don't have so many words yet.
