I'm pretty sure this idea came about on the IRC channel the other day.  I would like to make some worksheets or something similar for the next release of the mobile app.  My thoughts would be to take the Activity Book and turn each page into something interactive.  I think the complex part of this idea would be making the worksheets downloadable, so we could add others later on, and still make the worksheets interactive.  More specifically, how do we make each worksheet so that the app UI can build everything dynamically, if possible.

Thoughts?

Would require some work creating a standard that applications and lessons could be built against, though.

That is exactly where I think this conversation needs to go.  Anyone know how the ToV lessons are setup?  That might be a good starting point to build from.

Well as for what type of content, I'd like to use the Na'vi Activity Book as an example of the different types of worksheets / activities available.  Though not all of the activities would work well on a mobile device.

For the worksheets, I was thinking the style of thing skxawng put together...  Mostly fill in the missing part of speech stuff, fill in the blank with unambiguous answers.

Flashcards, I have some ideas on as well, as far as how to handle choosing what to ask, dealing with repetition, etc.

Human No More

Do want, great idea... this would really help when I have a bit of free time and my phone on me :)

Something similar to the jmemorize lists where you get given a Na'vi word and have to guess the English word, then it gives you the correct one after :)

Keep up the great work ;D

I am in the process of making flashcard decks for Anki.  The desktop software is free; the iPod Touch/iPhone software is for sale on the iTunes store and while it seems a bit pricey it seems quite solid and Damien Elmes has been MOST cordial in his correspondence regarding my questions.  And:  he has lots of other stuff you can download that you might find useful (French, in my case).

I am trying to get a response (an observation NOT a criticism!!!!) from Maybourne for his permission to post all of the conversions I've done thus far using his lessons from Seed of Language into Anki decks for my iPod.  I am married to a Librarian (read that as a copyright Nazi) so I want to have Maybourne's blessing before I post any of the decks I've made.

Well, I tried!

There is a attachment size limit of 500+KB and virtually all of the Anki flashcard deck materials I have are larger than that!

I will have to contact management.

Yeah - flashcards in the Android app would be great for me - currently it's only useful as a reference app, but it'd be great if it could be used for learning too.
