OME. I'm not sure about this :P

I like Star Wars, and I somewhat like the idea. Discuss.

*facepalm* WHY.

Yes, Star Wars is awesome, but George Lucas needs to figure out something else instead of milking it. Sigh. I suppose it is to the movie industry as the Mario franchise is to the game industry.

I suppose it has potential, as long as they don't include Jar Jar.

Mako

Well, considering it's just a 3D remake of all of them, he would still be there. It's not like they're making more movies.

TorukMakto!

I don't know , if it's just milking the brand to earn more money or does Lucas has more things to show us . If it's just the same and just for milking it, it will put Star Wars and Lucas in a bad spot, in bad light and taste and I don't think any of the fans want to see this scenario happening.

Txur’Itan

I wonder if he is planning to remake all six films, or just re FX all six films?

I would prefer if he had a darker approach to them this time.  Something closer to his THX1138 roots.

Well if he can make the first three films (1,2,3) as astetically appeasing as the last three films (4,5,6) then he could go on to make movies 7 8 and 9. The only reason he hasn't was because the old ones are well, old, and the new ones have better cg and the like. and then going on to make a 7,8,9 with them looking good it would be weird. you get three movies that look nice then three that are older and then another three that look nice. but now that he can touch up the old ones...

Leave well enough alone people. Nothing destroys a franschise faster than either "mimicking something else that worked (ie. avatar 3d and converting star wars to 3d) or trying to milk the franchise too much (trying to garner more profit). Especially since the star wars franchise hasn't seen any new additions in the last 4-5 years. I'm pretty sure the graphics would look good, but i wouldn't pay to see star wars in 3D.

The caliber of the graphics of Avatar is off the scale. It's fits the 3D media to watch Avatar in 3D. In fact, i'm dreading the switch to 2D because i've never seen it in 2D yet. When i get the DVD, i'll be running in 2D format. But then i can watch Avatar whenever.  ;D

Finally someone else found this topic :P

While I agree that he is slightly milking the franchise, I think that (if only this one) Revenge of the Sith (Episode III) would be epic if remade into 3D.

Technowraith

Of all the episodes, i agree that Revenge of the Sith would be about the only one worth seeing in 3D. but i think i would probably give episode I and II a try though.

Might be, might be. But it still seems and feels like a bad taste, all of this sudden "remake" in 3D for Star Wars.

Well, if they wanna milk a cash cow, they will. Thing is, how much milk is left?

The wild success of Avatar has changed the movie industry i'm afraid. What we've seen is essentially the death of 2D films. Don't be surprised if movies start coming out in more 3D formats because of Avatar. So now instead of $8-9 tickets, you're looking at $13-$15 tickets. Fail if you ask me.

That's a possible scenario. but the question is , would that happen anyway and Avatar just made it "sooner then later"?
Also if all a big percentage of the movies will be in 3D , does that say that the tickets for 3D will be cheaper? hmm...
I don't quite see that all the movies going to switch to 3D , because not all are made from the get go to be viewed in 3D for the optimal display. Avatar was made for 3D because it one of those movies that 3D just makes the experience worth even more.
We might see several movie using 3D and CGI effects, but I  doubt if it'll be a big percentage , at least in the following half decade. After that I guess 3D will be just "request able" to switch the 2D.

Toruk Makto

With Avatar and 3D TV about to hit the market, 2D is graveyard dead. Stick a fork in it. It's done. It is just still twitching from reflex.

Now with that said, nothing destroys a cult movie faster than a remake. Maybe Lucas could make a bit more "cheddar", but the franchise would take it in the pants. Seriously.  I think the Lucas needs to keep making his current obscure movies and let the laurels rest.

I think it would be nice to have the first trilogy remade. it disturbs me that it is in such bad quality considering the 3 latest, though i still watch them monthly

Now, dont get me wrong, Star Wars is awesome (my favorite movie until Avatar) but I can never support this. Its fine as it is and it cant be improved by adding 3D. It just seems like a gimmick.

I think that Starwars should stop getting up out of the grave, it's over buddy just go to sleep. Hopefully George will be able to find some new creativity rather than sobbing over a dead loved one.

I would have to lean toward no on this one. First of all, it's the same movie. Also, 3D is only good (in my opinion) when the origional movie is made knowing it'll be in 3D. Like Seabass stated, George Lucas is just milking it.
My uncle's dog came over a little less than one week ago. I stupidly left the computer plug on the floor. That night, his dog chewed it up. So, the next morning, I go looking for the plug and I find a chewed up piece of metal. I sadly cannot purchase a new plug right now, and my computer's battery is out. I'm at my public library.

Also, I discovered this promising "small business" film company called Mirror Entertainment. It looks really promising: http://www.mirrorente

Look, he has already gone to far with the animation star wars movie. Everyone saw it because it is great and like avatar he planned all the movies till the last non-animation movie and he pioneered the tech of movies untill now. he can do anything he wants but it is just lost me as a viewer forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o
