There aren't "books" or "TV shows" forums, so I figured the "Movies" one would be tam for now. /sheepish!

Anyone else here excited about the impending TV-ization of George RR Martin's A Game of Thrones?? HBO just announced officially that they're picking it up, so shooting for the first season (9 more episodes... they already shot the pilot) is to begin in the summer.

It's got quite a star-studded cast! I'm excited to watch Lena Headey exude venom as Cersei. mmhmm

He shares updates about how many pages he's written of A Dance with Dragons. AHHHH!!!

I was really into the books and yommed them all together, in as few sittings as possible. I heard about it because some RL friends named our World of Warcraft guild <The Faceless Men>. I loved them so much because the writing is engaging and thrilling and actually good. The characters are crazy, good people have bad things about them, "bad people" have good things about them, the author has a "no-holds-barred" policy that doesn't save even our obvious favorite characters from horrible deaths, the universe is rich and populated...

It's weird when books get adapted. We always have this worry, you know? What if they get it wrong? What will they cut? Will it become popular? We want more people to be exposed to the things we love, but then there's always a backlash if something becomes TOO popular. Will it make more people start reading fantasy books? I have high hopes for the TV show. The rumors say the production value is really high. LotR set the bar really high... I'm guessing we can't expect things on that scale, but it had better be beautiful. Will they do the rest of the books? What about the unwritten ones??

It's hard work to be a fan, nowadays. I've never played the Song of Ice and Fire board game, RPG games, or trading card / living card games, even though I work at a game store and I've seen them on our shelves. There's so much to do, and I don't have enough time in the week!!

Sure, do count me in! A Song of Ice and Fire is, in fact, my favorite fantasy novel, so I'd love to see it on screen.

He hit page 1311? Hopefully, we may not have to wait too long for the book. I'm practically dying of curiosity over what maester Qyburn is up to with his experiments! I say that now, when the magic appears to be returning, Westeros needs necromancers! :D
