Serenity and Firefly!

Okay. So now I'm royaly confused.

So I've recently watched the entire season of Firefly and rewarched Serenity and have a few questions. Where the heck did mr universe come from? In Serenity they talk about him like he's a close friend that they visit often but in Firefly they dint even mention him once to my knowledge! And when did the Shepard leave Serenity? And in Serenity in the beginning they show stuff from pre Firefly. The rest of Serenity takes place after Firefly. So did this assasin guy really not find anything on them for at least 8 months?

I hate to say this because Serenity was a top 25 movie for me, but after watching and completely loving every episode of Firefly, I just don't like it as much.

The rescue of river is a different rescue from the first (the one referenced in firefly). In firefly, Simon paid other people to rescue her whilst in Serenity he did it himself. This makes it seem to me that River must have been recaptured or something in between and Mal, looking after his crew, helped Simon spring her out for the second time.

Mr Universe was Wash's best friend at flight school during the independence war but beat Wash to first place by hacking the system alla Kirk. He was probably going to be introduced as firefly had gone on but they didn't have time.

Shepherd looks a lot older when you see him so I'd say the film's a while later, seeing as he was originally just a passenger on the ship, it's perfectly plausible that he left at any point. I personally, reckon that it was soon after objects in space because Jubil reminded him too much of his past life as a bounty hunter/operative/ninja/batman/pink fluffy bunny and so he wanted to go somewhere quiet.

well I disagree with your first point but everything else makes sense. In firefly I do believe Simon says a few times that people "helped" him to get River by giving him intel but I don't think anything is ever said about them springing her loose. Also in Firefly they make refrences to Simon having spent his entire fortune and given up a great career to resque her and they make the same refrences in Serenity.

And plus, imagine for a second that River was captured again. There is NO way that Simon could get near her again after having resqued her the first time. Somebody else would have to have done it.

Of course, I could be completely wrong. I don't know Firefly as well as I know Avatar!!

1. I don't they ever explicitly state that they sprung her but IIRC it is very heavily implied. Him spending all his money could just show how much he had to pay the people who rescued her to risk their tìm saving a stranger.

2. You underestimate the incompetence of that alliance my friend. 

Lastly, I'm not saying it's right, it's just that I've yet to see a theory that explains as much whilst still being plausible.

All right, i know there are fans! Let us preach the gospel! I'm only slightly rabidly obsessed with Firefly and Serenity but...

I want other peoples thoughts: Is River really better or is she still crazy at the end of the series?(AKA Serenity)

Loved "Firefly" (I suspect the only thing that keeps it from top spot under Babylon 5 is the simple fact that it got canned so early) ... I didn't really rate "Serenity" at all (don't even think of it as part of the series).

To be fair ma 'itan atxur, serenity was quite different from the series in that there was no 'job', the badguy wasn't some planetary governor or warlord and the entire film felt less western than the show.

I saw firefly for the first time yesterday, and I watched all episodes (like there is many of them) today... It's the best serial ever and I don't understande why they didn't make the season 2... I didn't watch the movie yet, i'll do it tomorow but I actually don't wanna watch it b/c I know that then the Firefly will be over (no more episodes to watch)
