Kaltxi frapo!
(Hi everyone!)

I was wondering how others here feel about James Cameron's other movies.
Especially about two:

1.) Terminator(s)
Whenever I hear James Cameron referred to "Terminator", it's almost always a reference to "Terminator 2: Judgment Day". I find that very unsettling because I found part 1, "The Terminator" just light years, entire worlds better! Schwarzenegger MUST be the bad machine! Him bringing flowers (figuratively) in part 2 really sucked big time to me. I hated part 2. I found part 1 much, much more original and cool.
Yet, whenever Terminator is mentioned with Cameron, it's almost always something along "the guy who made Terminator 2: Judgment Day". Why is that? Was he somehow less involved in Terminator 1?

2.) Titanic
I did *NOT* like Titanic at all. I just went to see it because I am a regular movie goer and for decades EVERYONE was wailing about Titanic. So finally I went to see it just to know what they were talking about and exactly as I suspected, I found it totally boring. A real WOMAN's movie! All romance... *bthblthblth*... (Sorry for those that liked it...)
Anyone have a plan how we can convince Cameron to give up the idea of remaking Titanic in a 3D version and invest that time in a 4-hour "The Complete Avatar Movie The Way It Was Meant To Be" instead?
;D

I didn't like titanic much either. Saw it on TV recently and watched since I hadn't seen it in 10 years (saw for the first time when I was 7, and didn't understand it much at that time).

As for a 4-hour version of Avatar, I wish he would, even if only in 2D. I could care less about titanic in 3D, especially since my eyes make 3D difficult to impossible (depends on the movie oddly enough) for me to see anyway.
2010 was the year of the Na'vi.Vivar 'ivong Na'vi!

The only thing I really enjoyed about Titanic was the eye for detail Cameron showed in it. I remember reading an artice about the "Titanic boarding"-scene that was filmed and then mirrored in total because the real Titanic was lying with the port side at the quay and they had to shoot the scene reversed... or the other way round. Not really sure. And don't care about it that much.
There's a load of details that really underline how much of a marvel the Titanic was in its time.

On the Terminator movies:
Well, masterpieces. Both of them although I too tend to prefer the first one. You really see what a kickass an advanced warbot is when unleashed for a single purpose. The second got somewhat... to SFX-y. Cool scenes none the less and still interesting to see but... well, you know.

As you mention it: I think I never saw True Lies end-to-end... always something there that interrupted me...
But The Abyss was great!

Terminator: Although I like T2: Judgement Day I tend to agree with you that The Terminator was a better movie with Schwarzenegger as the unstoppable machine summed up in that marvellous piece of over-acting by Michael Biehn (Reese), "Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead."

Titanic: I did like this film but it's become one of those films where I forward through to all the good bits (the disaster and ultimate never-ending love bits I guess).

Aliens: Yeah, I know that "Alien" is technically the better film but there's something so incredibly awesome about marines fighting the aliens, it's like John Wayne in space!

The Abyss: Mind-blowing.

True Lies: Quite possibly the best spy/action/comedy film I have ever seen ... it takes Schwarzenegger's inability to really act and turns it into a strength.

T2: yeah it's allright
Titanic: not the best film... but it looks good
Aliens: "I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit.... its the only way to be sure" I LOVE THIS FILM

haven't seen any others....

I liked these films for various qualities, and disliked some of their flaws, but over all, I derived a good deal of enjoyment and entertainment from them all.

Battle Beyond the Stars: Director of Photography, Visual effects, art department, JC worked with Roger Corman on creatures prior to this movie.  It was unique in its time for its portrayal of Extraterrestrial Aliens in a far flung future, in a way might have served as partial inspiration for the meta theme of Avatar.  They loved the work on the spaceships, so there were a great many flyby shots of them.  A conflict of interests on the part of JC I think, but they were very intricate models.

Escape from New York: Director of Photography, this movie was very good visually for its time, and was very entertaining in the theater.

Piranha Part Two: The Spawning: Director, the film was a standard Schlock Fest from the 80's, everyone was making those types of films.

Strange Days: This movie felt like a sequel to Brainstorm (1983), I thought it was interesting.

Rambo II: He has screenplay writing credits, this flick was good for its time, although most of this franchise was conceived of by Stallone.

Point Break: He was the producer, but this movie was pretty good, the best acting Keanu had to offer.

Terminator 1/2/3:  One and two were excellent, with the first definitely being more frightening for its time, and the second being an action flick.  JC Has writing credits on 3, but obviously the movies should have ended on 2.  3 was just a paycheck for Arnie...

Titanic: The first two hours were for the ladies, the last hour was for the guys.
My Heart Will Go On - Recorder By Candle Light by Matt Mulholland

Aliens: I was totally freaked out by the first Alien movie, this one became more of an action flick, and was very unique for its time.  When the extended version was released, it became more complicated, and much more interesting story-wise.  It seems to get the full grandeur of a JC vision no less than 3 hours will do.

The Abyss: I saw the Theatrical versions, and the extended version, and I liked them both.

True Lies: This was a fun movie in theaters, and if they made a sequel, it would have been very entertaining for them to allow their daughter into the action.

I totaly agree with you. ;)

I like Terminator 2 most, it's the best movie of the Terminator series.
