TOOTHLESS 1, 2, & 3 - How to Train your Dragon.
« on: March 28, 2010, 02:21:07 am »
So Toothless is the name of the dragon in How to Train a Dragon. I'm not sure if any of you watched this but I can see some resemblance of it with Avatar.

1st. The music when the guy (Hiccups) is flying with Toothless.
2nd. Before taking a dragon to fly, they have to do something like 'tsaheylu' so they put their palm on the dragon's forehead or sth2 (I dunno if it's necessary tho, unlike in Avatar)
3rd. I dunno if I'm mistaken, but some time in the movie I can see something like the Hallelujah Mountains..

I'm just saying soo yea, if someone watched the movie, can you confirm my opinions?

Just saw it for the second time. (Was half-tempted to create learn-nordic-runes.org )

1. Agreed. John Powell took some liberties with originality, but then again, "soaring" music can only be so original.
2. Not really ... they just get to know the dragon. Don't want to mount a beast like that before saying hi.
3. I thought so too - but I think it's just the fog obscuring the bottom of them.

Awesome movie nonetheless. I'd much rather have toothless than an ikran. Also much less of a hassle to get one :)

1. yeah I thought so too
2. oh well
3. yeah but I can't help thinking..

Ikr? it's an awesome moviee... and Toothless is just plain cute hahha. those eyes... also, there's another thing that bugs me, the girl umm Astrid, I can't help but noticing that she only likes Hiccups after she knows he's working with dragons.. almost as if she wouldn't get close to him at first coz she thinks he's lame.. not the typical 'good' girl in cartoons but oh well XD

In my opinion, she starts to like him because he showed her a different side of something she had hated and changed her whole life in about 5 hours or so. Hiccup was about the only constant thing in that equation.

This movie was very good.

I enjoyed it a lot.  I was surprised, usually I tend to think these kid friendly films are too kid friendly, like shorts, which was complete garbage, but I think I will get my brother to take his kids next weekend.

I would like another film to come from this, but success for animation requires making 200 million, and without that, there does not seem to be much of a future there.

Yeah. They took their time with it an they did very well. I expect to go see it gain soon. I will also be buying the banner they ave hanging at he heater. You know. The huge one that would cover up an entire wall. It seems to be something like 10 feet by 8 feet or close to that. Should look great in my living room.

Hmm, I need to get out and see this one.  Is it based on a book, by any chance?  Those names sound familiar to me for some reason.

Not that I know of but it is a common enough theme. They just managed to make a great wist to the story and quirky enough to catch our eyes on a subject that fascinates and intrigues us.

Well I also have the large poster of Avatar as well. You can see the pictures on the real life photos thread at about page 40 or 30 or somewhere near there.

a Modern Warfare 2 Promotional poster that I caught before they trashed it at work. I also have the outside poster for Avatar. The one they hang in the glass box to display the movie to the customers.
