Transformers 4...oh...boy?  First one was great and hysterical.  Second was okay.  Third was better.  Not enthusiastic about another one, though ._.

!!!OFFICIAL NEWS!!! More news about Transformers 4:

http://michaelbay.com/blog/files/247933bee60a611104404c32bb6b4dcb-770.php

Transformers’ taking new shape with Universal ride and fourth film

Optimus Prime, voiced by Peter Cullen, greets guests as they enter the ride’s “battlegrounds.” (Universal Studios Hollywood)

Film critics who put down Michael Bay’s “Transformers” movies by calling them theme-park rides in disguise won’t change their mind after hopping on Transformers: The Ride — 3D at Universal Studios, but they might have a dramatically improved opinion of theme-park rides.

The $100-million ride, which officially opened May 24, is being hailed as a game-changer by the reviewers and bloggers who cover such things (yes, there is quite a bit of room on the Internet), and even rivals at Disney Imagineering have, in private, acknowledged that the shiny new kid on the block is pretty impressive and possibly, well, transformative.

Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim, opening this month, has been the big theme park story this summer due to the scale of the project and the stakes involved for a Disney destination that was not the hoped-for success story in its first decade. Years from now, though, this summer’s opening of Transformers: The Ride might also be viewed as a milestone moment for its intriguing hybrid of digital illusion, real-world velocity and assorted atmospheric effects.

“It’s pretty amazing what they do and how they do it,” said Bay, who was a key creative consultant to the ride team of Universal Creative (the in-house counterpart to Imagineering) and Industrial Light & Magic, the illustrious effects house that also works on the Bay robot films. “They’ve got it down to a science and they grab you, take you through this world and this story, and it’s impressive.”

Bay’s consultation may have been limited to the story, but his cinematic fingerprints are everywhere. The “physics” of the ride — like the slow-motion, whizzing metal, groaning-whirl effects used at key points — and the robot design are all from the Bay and ILM trilogy, which, for young male moviegoers, is their era-defining franchise. And despite the reviews, last year’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” stands as the third highest-grossing film of all time (trailing only “Avatar” and the final “Harry Potter” film) in international box office.

The Transformers brand dates back to the Reagan era and it may be the ultimate example of the reuse and recycle principle applied to pop culture if you consider the fact that Transformers: The Ride — 3D is a theme-park attraction based on a movie franchise based on a cartoon based on a toy. And, yes, there’s a gift shop right next to the exit with Hasbro’s latest line of mecha-heroes.

There’s plenty more Transformer action to come with a major new video game release, “Transformers: Fall of Cybertron,” due in August and another Bay movie in the works. (The director, by the way, says that the fourth film will include some redesign of the robots and an entirely new cast. He also said it will be his last and set the franchise up “for the next guy.”)

But a fan’s affection for a toy or a movie will only get them to stand in line once for a new theme-park ride, said Chick Russell, the creative director for Universal Creative, as he walked through the dim corridors of the ride in January.

You wanna work with Michael Bay on the next Transformers movie?

http://michaelbay.com/blog/files/a7f35305dde0e0c4f132e4607973faa9-779.php

The next Transformers movie could have an unlikely film credit: yours.

Doritos, the Frito-Lay brand that has embraced the Super Bowl as the salty snack's sweet spot for consumer-generated commercials, on Wednesday will announce plans to seriously boost the booty in its seventh annual Crash the Super Bowl contest.

Doritos will link up with one of Hollywood's most successful directors, Michael Bay, whose Transformers films have created a movie empire.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon, ranks as the fifth-highest-grossing movie of all time by raking in $1.2 billion at the box office. Bay also directed Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys and The Rock.

The consumer who creates the top-ranked Doritos commercial aired during the Super Bowl -- as determined by USA TODAY'S Ad Meter consumer poll of best-liked Super Bowl commercials -- wins the chance to work with Bay on the next installment of the Transformers movie franchise, to be filmed in 2013.

In an age of social-media hype and online overload, marketers are increasingly looking for ways to stand out. With this PR-seeking promo, Doritos aims to not only break through the Super Bowl clutter but to add another notch to its recent history of generating some of the Super Bowl's top commercials.

If a Doritos spot tops the USA TODAY Ad Meter, the creator also wins $1 million.

Transformers 4 to feature new cast of robot characters:

http://www.nme.com/filmandtv/news/transformers-4-to-feature-new-cast-of-robot-chara/286579

The new Transformers movie will introduce a new cast of robot characters in a bid to boost toy sales.

The last film in the series, 2011's Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, was the most popular yet, grossing over $1.1 billion (£680 million) worldwide. However, box office success did not lead to bumper sales for Hasbro, the makers of the toys the movies are based on.

Speaking at a business conference in London yesterday (September 12), CEO Brian Goldner blamed poor toy sales on fans already owning their favourite robot characters from the films. According to TFW2005.com, he added: "This is why Transformers 4 will have a new cast of [robot] characters and it will be a story revolving around these new characters."

The fourth Transformers film does not have a title yet, but it is scheduled for release in June 2014. Speaking in June (2012), director Michael Bay revealed that the sequel will take the series in a 'new direction" and suggested that it could involve a departure from planet Earth. He said at the time: "I want to go a little off but I don't want to go too sci-fi. I still want to keep it grounded."

The fourth Transformers film will be the first without Shia LaBeouf, who declined to reprise his role as franchise hero Sam Witwicky. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who co-starred in Dark Of The Moon, has also confirmed that she is not returning.

Bay, who directed all three previous Transformers films, has insisted that this sequel will be his last. The existing trilogy has grossed a collective $2.6 billion (£1.7 billion) at the box office worldwide.

Big news about Transformers 4

Mark Wahlberg will be in Transformers 4 :)

http://michaelbay.com/2012/11/08/michel-bay-re-teams-with-his-pain-gain-star-mark-mark-wahlberg-for-transformers-4/

After an exceptionally successful collaboration on the upcoming “Pain and Gain,” Michael Bay has cast Academy Award®-nominee Mark Wahlberg in the highly anticipated “TRANSFORMERS 4.” The film will hit theaters June 27th, 2014.
“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on “Pain and Gain” and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy,” said Bay.
Bay will direct the next installment in the “TRANSFORMERS” series, which begins shooting next spring. From Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., in association with Hasbro, the film will be produced by Don Murphy & Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.
Bay’s first “TRANSFORMERS” film was a box office sensation in 2007, opening at #1 and earning more than $700 million worldwide. His second installment “TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN” in 2009 grossed more than $830 million worldwide. In 2011, “TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON” was an even bigger hit worldwide, grossing more than a billion dollars to become the 5th highest grossing film of all time. To date, the franchise has earned more than $2.6 billion worldwide.
From acclaimed director Michael Bay comes “Pain and Gain,” a new action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie. Based on the unbelievable true story of three personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong. Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Rob Corddry, Rebel Wilson, and Bar Paly also star. The film is based on magazine articles by Pete Collins, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and produced by Donald DeLine, Michael Bay and Ian Bryce.

Transformers 4 will be totally redesigned.

Michael Bay has been discussing the future of the Transformers franchise, talking about both broadening and redesigning the series.

Speaking to Forbes, Bay said, “We’re going to start off smaller. There’s a brand new cast. To freshen the franchise we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom. The history of the first three movies is still there, we start four years later and there’s a reason why we’re meeting a new cast.”

Bay’s next film is Pain & Gain, which stars Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg, with the latter also appearing in Transformers 4.

“Mark is really excited about it and it’s a great redesign,” he explained. “I said that three was going to be my last one. Paramount was letting me do Pain & Gain and the Transformers ride was opening at Universal and it was bittersweet to think of passing it off. I wanted to set it up on a really sure footing and to bring someone else in on that, it would have been overwhelming.”

Paramount Pictures announce that Transformers 4 will be shot in IMAX format

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/16/transformers-4-to-be-shot-in-imax?abthid=516d0829a7e0be615b000004

Paramount Pictures announced today at CinemaCon that Transformers 4 will be shot in the IMAX format.

Transformers 4 is one of five Paramount releases -- including Christopher Nolan's Interstellar and three unspecified titles -- that are part of a pact announced today between the studio and IMAX Corporation.

Following their use of IMAX cameras on The Dark Knight Rises and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, respectively, "Nolan and Michael Bay will once again capture material and key sequences of these 2014 releases using IMAX cameras. These specific sequences, which will expand to fill more of the screen exclusively in IMAX, will deliver unprecedented crispness and clarity and a truly immersive experience for moviegoers," the studio said in a statement.

More TF4 news :)

Michael Bay will be starting filming the new Transformers movie in June, in Detroit.

http://www.freep.com/article/20130421/ENT01/304210028/Michael-Bay-Transformers-Detroit

Get ready, Motor City. Michael Bay is on his way.

“I’ll be there in a month and a half,” says the director of his plans to shoot a big chunk of the fourth “Transformers” movie in metro Detroit.

The director of the blockbuster “Transformers” franchise shot scenes for 2005’s “The Island,” 2007’s “Transformers” and 2011’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” — in Detroit. But this time, he’s bringing a much bigger portion of the work here.

“Transformers 4” expects to spend roughly $82 million in Michigan, or more than any previous film under the film incentive program besides “Oz the Great and Powerful.”

The movie, which has been approved for $20 million in state film incentives, will film at many local sites. “We’re going to be shooting at stages, we’re going to be shooting around the city, we’re going to be shooting at GM a bit,” says Bay, who knows the city well and credits it with having a lot of good locations.
