Sometimes stars just get sucked up into their own egos and make total prats of themselves ... I though it might be a good idea to have a trash thread on that kind of thing:

Here's one on Whitney Houston ... I used to like her (early stuff) but ever since she and that rapper guy split she seems to have gone off the rails a bit.

She was on the "X-Factor" here last year and she was, quite frankly, embarrassingly bad, looked like she's be taking something!

Hmm, I have never heard her stuff. But srane, there are many celebrities who have done embarrassing things. Yet, they are merely humans...who happen to be on the stage or whatever place and do stuff when they are unstabble. All humans do bad things, just not all can have a camera on them for it. :P

Poor Whitney. I miss her great belting.

Well, even though i'm a bit of a Madonna fan- i like her music from the late 90s/ early-mid 00s- her early stuff was pretty embarrassing and annoying.
And Gaga and Perry are really friggen annoying trying too hard for attention.
They should take a minute to think about making relevant music videos to their songs.

Yeah ... in her day she was quite awesome.

Actually I liked her early stuff (Holiday, Borderline and stuff) ... I lost interest in her around her "Erotica phase then regained it when she did stuff like Vogue and Music (my favourite Madonna videos are "Don't Tell Me" and "Vogue" ... the dance sequences, particularly in the former, are just awesome) then lost it again when she did that bloody awful ABBA-esque thing (but then I'll run from a room covering my ears if anyone puts them on).

Don't know much about Perry and I'm not much of a fan of Lady Gaga but I have to say I am quite impressed with Gaga's videos ... very artistic IMO.

Yeah, i loved the Ray of Light, Music, American Life eras. Her Confessions stuff was what got me into her music in the first place. lol

She has potential to leave a mark, but she hasn't done it yet. I hope she does though! lol

Well, for me pretty much every female artist who displays herself like a sex object (like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Christina Aguilera, for instance) is embarrassing, because I'm feeling sorry that they feel like they have to act in such a way to be popular. I think it's really sad. I don't know what kind of image they think they're projecting to the young girls, but I believe it is one of self-disrespect.

Ok, I definitely have to agree with that. ^^

I completely agree. It's fake feminism.
I wish more female popstars were like Bjork. Even when she's erotic/ sexual, she does it in such a creative and appropriate way that kids could watch it- perhaps with the exclusion of Pagan Poetry for some of the implied graphics.

Part of me wants to agree with you but there's this little voice in the back of my mind saying, "hold on a minute, isn't this just some facet of human behaviour that does pretty much what any other mammalian female does i.e. displays herself in a way to attract a mate" ... I mean I agree about young girls, I've long felt they are sexualised at too early an age even whilst recognising that the age we set between childhood and adulthood is largely (though not entirely) arbitrary and I assume something similar happens to boys. I've been quite lucky in this respect as a parent ... neither of my two girls have felt inclined to rush headlong into sex-oriented things yet both seem entirely normal (odd considering I'm their father, HRH) but back to my point ... I think sex displays may be an entirely normal facet of human behaviour, a behavioural inheritance from our ancestors.

Haha, beyond embarrassment caused by lip syncing.

It's just sad that you have to dress half naked to be a pop star. I don't mind those that become sex symbols without pursuing it in the first place (intelligent, insightful, classy)...it's annoying when they run after that title.

For me the enjoyment of an artist's music and what that artist is like as a human being are two separate things. I've heard that some of my favourite people (music wise) are complete ****s and I simply don't care.
Please tell me if you see mistakes in a Na'vi post of mine. It's the only way I'll learn. :P
