I know a song.. and the beginning of it could have come from the Avatar soundtrack. It was recorded around 1970 and I bet Horner listened to that kind of music when he was young...

He also keeps his tunes relatively similar, Avatar's soundtracks have parts of it that sound VERY similar to his work in Enemy at the Gates.

Yeah.. and the OST reeeeally has some psychedelic parts in it... There are also parts of the non-existing Symphonic Rock in it..
