Just interested who all here has done, is doing, or plans to do anything within music.

Something truly "off-topic" to talk about, I guess.

Suppose I should start...

Played drums since I was 10... so 9 years of drumming.  Did the high school marching band thing as a battery member, and also did some jazz band.  Went to college for music... and well, it didn't turn out the way I wanted.  So, for now, if I ever do anything professionally as a drummer, it would be a tour drummer for a personal band (or maybe the rapper for something like nu metal/rapcore).  I also plan on marching in Drum Corps International, in Eclipse Drum and Bugle Corps.

I guess if you haven't, maybe say what you would do?

Oh, and I guess to keep interest, yes, I would probably write a few songs in Na'vi.

There has been some buz about arraigning something with the people who have music backgrounds, and the Na'vi language down pretty good.

I think that we should arrange something.  It could be fun for conventions.

Well, I'm currently a DJ. Hopefully (fingers crossed) going on an international tour May 24th, I'll know May 4th if we  get accepted. We were booked to go last year, but our headliner DJ, the one i open for was on parole still and they wouldn't let him leave the country  ::). I'm starting to get into production, and my current remix of Jake's First Flight is my second remix. I'm currently working on an original piece as well, which is coming along. Working on the remix has helped me develop other areas of my production work, and has inspired me to try to produce in the realm of "Jungle-Trance", which is a rather unexplored area.

I also should add, I've had experiences in other instruments as well, including piano, guitar, bass guitar, and clarinet (the last being the least experience).  I've also gone through music courses as well, so I know how to write music.  However, most of it pertains to "rock" music.

If you need someone to write just the music (and if it can go the route of rock or the like), I will do it.

When I did take piano, I was lucky enough to be able to learn from someone who's lineage went all the way back to Mozart himself.  Unfortunately, the only time I ever use piano, if ever, is just taking guitar tabs offline and moving them to piano, to know how the chords work that way.

I've played French horn once and played the drums a little bit...not much.

I was a music composition major in college.  (Au'ekong, I know what you mean.  My musical genealogy includes Copland, and, by extension, Nadia Boulanger.  I haven't traced it much further back than that.)  I haven't composed in a long time though.  (I wrote mostly pieces for small mixed ensembles.)  I also play a small slew of instruments.

^^^ check the name for mine  ;D

My talent in arranging is for battery percussion, especially when, more or less, it needs to accompany the brass while still being moderately difficult.

Specifically, I was a Music Education major at Ball State Universitylast semester, but like I said, it didn't work out.  However, if I go back into it, I'll go into a drum-set degree at another college (already picked out, too: UNC Pembroke).  We'll see how things work out.

One thing that I can truly say is that, no matter what, I will never stop playing, whether or not I am in it for a profession or not.

... I also had a very interesting thought... What if a couple of us here formed a band, preferably of a popular genre, and we went on stage as Na'vi, performed our music, etc...?  Great idea, isn't it?  It would be like the punk-rock era on steroids!

I think a good sound for an experienced percusisonist looking to do Na'vi music, considering the african influences of the Na'vi tribes would be the Udu, and the jungle reminds me of the southamerican Cahon.

Blue Na'vi Group?  ;)  I'd do it but I'm less than half the size of your average Na'vi.

I am probably four times the width of an average Na'vi, I am probably a bad stage presence.

But I can belt out some voice, I just need a song to practice.

I was practicing a refrain I liked the sound of, sounded like an alien crooner LOL, not very contemporary, I might be good for back up vocals in the bass registers.
