Who still listens to classic music? (60s-90')

I myself listen to the older songs from the Beatles, Pat Benatar, Melissa Etheridge, KISS, and Rolling Stones.  Not many people around here like the older music anymore, especially with the radio stations going to hip-hop/rap.  Luckilly I tuned in to 101.5 FM and 3 seconds later I See You came on WHILE I was talking to my dad about Avatar!  But back on topic, the older music seems to be dying and I personally find it better then today's music.

Past music is SOOO much better than most new stuff. I always listen to Depeche Mode, New Order, Camouflage, basically anything on Sirius XM: First Wave (channel 21 or 22).

EDIT: First Wave only plays alternative music (and similar) from early 90s and back.
My uncle's dog came over a little less than one week ago. I stupidly left the computer plug on the floor. That night, his dog chewed it up. So, the next morning, I go looking for the plug and I find a chewed up piece of metal. I sadly cannot purchase a new plug right now, and my computer's battery is out. I'm at my public library.

I can't imagine how much worser live'd look if we wouldn't have music from '30s to '70s. I listen to The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Gypsy Sun and Rainbows, Band of Gypsys, The Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, Django Reinhardt, The Doors, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Yardbirds, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, B.B. King, John Lennon, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley 'bout 15 hours per day.

The main pare that I like about the older music is that it's not nearly as explicit.  The fact the bands actually put forth an effort to make a song sound good.  Nowadays it's put in beats and just say random words at times to tell very explicit stuff or just to sound funny.  Now I'm 16, but I think of today's music as very degenerate and without taste.  Just wish that we could return to the older days when music was GOOD.

Music wasn't good then. It was great. By the way, there are bands that play good today, but they just ain't popular because people today too often listen to something worser.

I agree. Music today is simply to explicit and bad for all ages.

Bands and singers who started making music in the "earlier years" are great. Luckily, we still have some who continue to make music and tour to this day.

I listen to Scottish music from the 1700. Since it's older it makes me cooler right?

It all depends on if it can involve Flogging Molly!  idk if they do cursing, but the music is hilarious!

P.S.  Scottish Music from 1700 sounds pretty nice.  I like the rythm

I always had a thing for bag pipes.

Oh yeah, the bags are awesome.  I recently saw Gaelic Storm, which uses pipes for a selection of songs.  What a great time.

The 3 problems of today's music; hip hop, deathmetal/regular metal, and of course rap

Some of today's music I love, particularly some Asian works such as Nana Mizuke.

That's what's most popular, but it's not exactly the only thing that is music out there.  I listen to a lot of music from all decades (the largest percentile being of music within the last 10 years), and I can assure you that the amount of hip-hop, death-metal, and rap is very minimal compared to the wide variety of rock, jazz, latin, and various forms of classical music.  I will state that of all the favorites in my library, almost all of them are 80s and before, some even going back to the 30s.

Oh, has there been music since 2000? Haven't been aware of that... around 1990-1995 there was some good stuff. And of course good old rock'n roll of all times, from Bach to Narnia. ;D

Rise Against is a good band that is still running, and started, if I am correct, around 2001.  And they are not H-H, HM, or Rap: they are "Straight-Edge" punk.  And Tim McIlraith actually does sing (though a little rough).

Skillet is another good band of recent years, and they are more Symphonic Rock/Symphonic Metal.

Not to mention the multiple Prog-Rock descendants lurking at the back of HMV. Least old music had thought put into it.

Yeah, who wouldn't want to be a descendant of Led Zeppelin?  I mean, Jon Bonham is enough reason to want to be.

I may not have been even close to being alive back in the 80's, but my parents have always commented that I was born twenty years late.  I recently let my aunt listen to my favorite band, Muse, and she said they reminded her a lot of music from the 80's.  Then we started listening to my second-favorite band: U2 ;)

"What the heck is that?"
"It's uh, Na'vi, you know, from 'Avatar'."
"Sorry, I haven't seen that movie."
