I wouldn't call them feathers...
I don't know, I've got another picture that I couldn't find now, and in that, it looks more like some kind of leaves.

Yeah, you're right. I only thought I remembered seeing feathers somewhere else.

I believe I read somewhere (can't quite remember where exactly) that the "feathers" were from an assortment of plants on Pandora.

Given the physiology of the animals we've seen I doubt there are any "birds" as we would recognize them on Pandora.

No animals shown with feathers != no feathers.

Of course, they could equally just be plant material for the most part, the most obvious ones that that wouldn't fit with are some of the Na'vi arrows.

These "feathers" could come from a pletora of sources. Some of them seem likely to be some kind of leaves, perhaps from plants related to the warbonnet, while others might come from various animals, such as "fish" or "insects". In addition, when we know how much effort na'vi put into clothes and decoration, it's not unlikely at all that the "feathers" may have been processed, dyed and whatnot.

I've also been wondering.  ??? A lot actually...
ah. right. didnt notice that.
but i dont think plants can create such... soft feathers. as you can see on the picture, the feathers seems to be soft, just like bird feathers on earth
dont you think so?

Agree, they look a little like parrot feathers  :D
Hopefully avatar 2 will show the birds those feathers came from. maybe those birds are from a cooler part of pandora, or only grow them during winter

They might also be forms of flower petals. They're often soft.

Hm, that's an interesting thought! I find it actually doesn't really look like it could be flower petals, but with the incredible flora of Pandora, who knows? ;)

I suppose it's possible, especially in the second picture with the strandy "feathers" and war-paint.  Some of these exotic flowers are pretty wild-looking, and they're from our own planet.

The arrows also certainly appear to use feathers.
