I'm not saying anything about a salvage operation. I'm just saying that the entire journey to the ikran roosts is unneeded, and I highly suspect a lot of Na'vi die on the route. And you really think they'll stay so 'pure' for millenia to come? Some of the tribes are probably more warlike, and have different kinds of beliefs and mindsets. I suspect that Viperwolves will become endangered. Also, with the human culture input, I bet some Na'vi will start up industry eventually, and no tribe will be able to afford not to copy, thus paving the way to becoming a technological civilization. Probably not as polluting as humans, I agree, but I think they'll still get there.

Do you really think that such a nature related culture is going to end up as a industrial power ? come on , they would do everything to keep harm away from nature .

I doubt Native Americans would do something like that either. But there are other humans. I suspect its the same for the Omatikaya and the Na'vi.

There is a lot of speculation happening here that is based on projecting human values on the Na'vi, which are NOT presented as human, no matter the perceived similarities. Comparing what we know of the Na'vi culture to ours is fine, but it is still speculation, so a lot of the statements being presented as factual by some present are not really facts. Discussion is fine, but when uninformed authority is assumed, then the discussion starts to become adversarial. Again, IMO.

I also feel that there is also a lot of unwarranted animosity toward humans by fkeua vrrtep that is becoming tiresome to read. I think I will back off this particular topic for now.

I'm sorry if I've been percieved as putting myself up as an authority, I'm not trying to have that image. I'm just saying that this is what I am guessing could happen.
And I think humans are brilliant.

I can't agree on that  , I do not have animosities against humanity as a whole , I have animosities against it's corruption , the people of earth are all great and special in many different ways but they have alot of flaws and vices , the thing that I do not like about humans is the way they treat their environment and life itself without seeing consequences for everyone living here , may it be of inexperience or because they just don't care .

I also don't understand why people rate me down for showing my own oppinion and analyzing different situations and parallels , just because some people don't like that I refer to certain facts , it's still no reason to do so .

I disagree with that, I think humans are amazing. I mean, look what we've done? And we don't really need an environment, so stuff it.

So , you don't need woods creating oxygen for us to live for example ?

Maybe the word I meant was ecosystem, sorry. Yes we need plants to make oxygen for now, but we don't need an entire ecoystsem.

Hawnuyu atìtse'a

But those plants depend on an ecosystem, which is why human intervention and extinction of species is a big deal. It's like a jenga tower, you can remove some bricks, but remove one too many and it comes crashing down.

with great power comes great responsibility, kranapan. man, as a conscious being, aware of himself and his environment should be the main factor in maintaining the natural harmony or he is no more than a mindless child in a room full of nuclear missile trigger buttons.
you can't treat a man like an 'overdeveloped animal' in that sense. man is very powerful, and that factor alone is enough to put him in the role of an enlightened guardian, not some stupid muscled up brainless fired up maniac.
sadly, i think that the development of our mindset doesn't keep up with the development of our destructive power.

A lot of plants don't need the entire ecosystem around them, and we can always make a few more useless using GM. I envisage a future when we live in hives covering planets, and in space colonies in many star systems, farming soya using robots.

They would've if there wasn't that stupid agreement in the way...

I wouldn't go as far as to call out way of life "corrupt" or "hypocritcal" or "false"(politics aside ;D), it might not be to everyones liking but looking back few hundred years, there is considerable improvement. And we are still improving, alternative fuels are coming all the time, deforestation in industrialized nations is either slow or negative these days and only the Big Boys(Russia, China, U.S) are holding onto their old fossil fuel ways. In the movie we were pretty much f*** up, no in real life, in present course i doubt we would be in the smae situation in 150 years, since technological development has most likely made fossil fuels obsolete. Unless something unexpected happens, for all we know earth was struck by an asteroid in the movies timeline :P.

I seemed to have struck a hornets nest here, everyone should just take a step back and calm down, discussion is fine as long as it stays civilized.
And please stop blaming the Europeans for what happened to Native Americans, i feel almost offended.

Remember, with the Na'vi, they can... "log into" Eywa any time and know if something is out of balance and threatens their survival. They can then band together to correct the situation. It was easy for Jake to get the other tribes to go along with the war, probably because they had been following the destruction by the humans for so long, and felt the destruction of the tree that the Hell Trucks hit.

Here on Earth we have no internal monitoring system. There may be a guy dumping chemical waste in a forest somewhere right now and we have no way to ask the tree network if that is the case. We don't find out about it until the problem is so big it cannot be ignored or covered up... or, unless motivated individuals report the situation.

why would you feel offended? i am european too, i mean, it was hundreds of years before you were born, so there is no any rational reason you should or could be offended:)
it's not like you did it.

maybe my grandgrandgrandgrandgrand.......father was the first human that commited murder, with a rock, hundred thousand year ago, but that doesn't offend me:)

Technological development-->alternate fuels-->floating cars-->superconducting material-->discovery of unobtainium-->avatar is real-->(james cameron is a prophet)-->we get to go to pandora-->yes

So I say yes to development following that logic.

I said almost, not that i'm offended. has more to do with ignorance. And i think the first murderer was a stone drunk Finn :P

And speaking of drinking, the na'vi now the art of brewing, which means they have alcohol, which seems that they're going down a similiar path than humans since brewing is one of the oldest things we propably know.
