Just made my first two 'olf fassion' arrows and shot them and I love them, but it kinda got me thinking, do we know anything about the Na'vi arrows?  How are they made and what from?  I know the tips are dipped in a type of poison.

Amaya

I would venture to guess that only the arrows they use for "warfare" are dipped in the poison.  After all, you don't want to have poison tainting the meat of a kill, especially if it's a particularly effective poison.  That would lead to the need to cut away any of the meat which might have been effected, which could be quite wasteful.

As for whatever else they're made of I'm not sure, I don't think I've seen any information floating around, maybe someone else can help?

Eanikran

I found this, it shows some limited info on different kinds of the arrows they use (other weapons too). I'm not sure if it's legit or not though, sounds like it.

I guess they have a different type of arrow for different tasks, like fishing, hunting, etc.

Another thing I was wondering is, during warfare- how do they keep the poison on the arrowheads? unless the arrowheads themselves are made of some kind of poisonous material and Quaritch was just being a skxawng when he said they're dipped in poison. ;D

Amaya

I would think they're probably painted with some kind of thick poisonous resin or something like that.  They probably wouldn't be as effective the second time though, so maybe a warrior carries a small pot of the poison with him or her to re-innoculate as necessary...

Eanikran

yeah it's probably something more like that, that's a good point. they probably wouldn't be recovering arrows too much anyway if they were at war.

you need the a to show that lor is describing the arrows. the a is the adjective marker, so if you want to say something like 'pretty eyes' you'd say either 'lora menari' or 'menari alor' instead of just lor by itself (simple way to put it, you put the a on the side of the adjective that's closest to what it's describing). :)

Sorry to necropost but I just wanted to brag!

I met Fletcher the Arrow Maker at an SCA event.  He is the one who designed and made all of the arrows for the film!  He even had some for sale that were full size but I didn't buy any because I could hardly afford the functional arrows I bought from him XD
