BACK TO THE SCHOOL ROOM:  There is a mobile depicting a solar system.  Should it not include TWO SUNS being that they are from the binary star system, Alpha Centauri A and B?
Um... I'm afraid it isn't a solar system, it's the Polyphemus system with the planet and its 14 moons. We are just making it!

Which planet? Pandora is also a moon of Polyphemus. Just a habitable one. ;)

IRAYA MA OEYA AYTSUKAN!
I stand corrected. Not Sol, TSAWKE!  I wondered why there was no reference to the second sun.
Irato HMN!
14 MOONS? So far, we only know of one which is habitable!  Any hints from JC?

Ma Pa'li Makto! You made a mysterious comment: "We are just making it."  Are you making a mobile of the TSAWKE system?  Are you using gourds from the rumat? Rum=ball. Utral=tree. ;D
(It's mentioned in the Na'vi dictionary.  Ateyo collected an armload, using her tewng, loincloth, as an apron!

If the Na'vi don't write than what the heck is this?
I know it's a serious necropost, but I'd like you to see this picture. It's much better than the first one I posted here. Check the signs in illustration 7A! They are identical to those circled in the original picture. (Also the words "Na'vi, human, brain, male" can be easily detected among the signs on the right side!) What do you think of Na'vi writing now?  ???

It could be an alphabet created and taught by the humans.
The interesting thing is that they seem to use ideograms.

I suspect this was a concept that weta may have pitched to Cameron, but wasn't adopted.
It therefore would not be cannon.
There is a Nike swoosh logo as well as a © copyright symbol.

Perhaps it's a warning to the Na'vi not to write memoirs about the way the RDA behaved on Pandora, as RDA procedure is copyrighted and therefore any mention of it, or reference to, it would be in breach of copyright.
As a result, the RDA would peruse a claim in court against the transgressor.  ;) ;D

Except if you buy the rights. ;)

It would be really amazing if there was a court on Pandora.

I've tried to translate some "signs" into Na'vi, but at sentences I fail...

Law is what ever you can enforce.
Do Human laws from Earth and the Sol system apply on Pandora?
If the RDA can make the convenient ones stick, they will.
I would be surprised if they didn't want to omit the less opportune ones.

mind is very similar to listen. There is a little difference though.
I see that eltu appeared after the movie, right?

This first picture is actually from the movie, so some extent it was adopted for sure. And Neytiri's bow is also interesting having those characters on it. They are definitely not just ornaments, they must mean something. But these are really speculations only...
Anyway, could you please send me a link to where it was originally stated that the Na'vi don't write? I'm just curious to know where exactly it comes from. It is important for me since I don't want to say anything untrue about the language when speaking about it next weekend...  :)
And thank you very much for your comments!  :)

Big question is - WHO is author of those symbols? Were they invented by Na'vi or by sawtute and adopted by Na'vi?
Avatar wikia says, that Tawkami clan has some form of writing system, but of course it is not canon.
IMHO we can be sure just on that what could be seen in the movie - and we saw that Na'vi people do not write. Sources like ASG/pandorapedia are not trustworthy.

Wait a minute. Do I get it right: we believe that Na'vi people don't write because actually we can't see them writing in the movie? We can't see them doing lots of things... My question is the following: has Cameron or Frommer ever stated that the Na'vi don't write? Or we just lack the statement they do write? It is not the same. I understand though that if this is a "Cameronial territory" than it is an open question... Now is it an open question or a fact?  :)

I'm not aware of such statement and I don't believe Paul could say something like this, IMHO it is strictly matter of Cameron. Let's wait for next movie, if we get more info.
Regarding your presentation - to be correct, it is safe to say that currently we do not have reliable information whether Na'vi write or not. More probably is they don't (or your own feeling :)).
