Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

Quote from: Question #1
Who are you?
FEMALE age 54 (Irrta) though I identify as a TOMBOY
Grew up in Southern California, Hispanic American
sheltered Catholic Girl who was a loner
Studied at Cal State La got a Bachelors of Arts degree in Graphic arts and a Master's degree in Art Education. Then got a second Master's degree in Education Media(teaching tools) at Arizona State University in Tempe
NOTE:considered myself I failure beause I was aiming for a Doctorate!
Then I wandered around Arizona airbrushing T-shirts at Gay Rodeos
Met my Munxtate (Niri Te) in 1993 and travelled to Texas where we have a Home On the Range in the wilderness east of El Paso

Quote from: Question #2

Why are you here?
Spoiler
Last November, we were visiting a neighbor who was watching Avatar on satellite TV.  Being satellite TV it was repeated at least twice a day for a week. Niri Te and I watched it several times and became enthralled.  In December, she came upon the Tree of Souls site and then this site.  I spend three to five hours a day on this site and a little on ToS.

Quote from: Question #3
Spoiler
In other areas of my life, I am known as Toby Bear. A Na'vi name generator decided that Ateyo was close to Toby.  I couldn't find anything that resembled a cuddly creature, so I chose the Syaksyuk, the prolemuris. At first I found a regular photo of myself. The following week, I turned my face blue using GIMP software. The following week, I used Windows Paint and moved my ear up, enlarged my eyes, and added stripes.  The third week I added tsamopin. war paint. I wish I had had a higher resolution photo to work from and a more advanced photo enhancing program, but alas.. pretty dang good, none the less!

Quote from: Question #4
Srak nga tsun nìna'vi pivlltxe?
spoiler
Gimme a break, I've only been at this for three months! I have written two poems in Navi, though.
Niri Te started picking it up quickly which is significant because she sustained seven closed skull fractures in a military helicopter crash.  I started to learn Na'vi because of my inspiration in her.
We are beginning to exchange little dialogues.  She recently grilled a great meal, and said." Fi'u livu siltsan." when she was finished eating. Which made us both proud, because I couldn't remember it to help her!

Quote from: Question #5
What's your favorite Na'vi word?
N'PRRRRRRRTE. I like to purr it out, of course!

Quote from: Question #6
In your opinion, what are the top three user-created content on the LN website?
Spoiler
I rely heavily upon the Navi Dictionary that Marki et al put together. I am also learning a lot from the presi's designed by Le'Eylan , and I am learning a lot through Tirea Aean's lessons on video

Quote from: Question #7
Have you made any contributions to the LN community that you're particularly proud of?
Spoiler
I am proud of the story I am writing in the Fan Fiction thread called ATEYO TE SYAKSYUK:TSULFATU.
I plan to write a Na'vi story book called Curious Ateyo (like Curious George), and I plan on offering airbrushed t'shirts of Na'vi warriors on Pa'li or ikran and sell them here
http://forum.learnnavi.org/fiction-fanfiction/ateyo-tesyaksyuk-tsulfatu/

Quote from: Question #8
What is it that you liked/hated the most about Avatar ?
Spoiler
The only scene that doesn't work for me is when Jake has been thrown by his ikran and hoists himself over the edge of the cliff,  He kind of floats for a moment, which might be consistant with Pandora's gravity, but is not represented elsewhere in the film.
My favorite scene is when all the toronyu and their ayikran are plummetteting down the mountain side and through the crashing surf
We have watched avatar nine times and plan to watch it tomorrow.

Quote from: Question #9
Has Avatar  changed your life in any way?
Spoiler
My heart has always been TRUE BLUE, which is why the movie appealed to me.  I used to participate in a Native American Sun Dance ceremony abut never quite felt Lakota, but I love the dance as meditation concept and tribal living, if only for that one week.  Niri Te and I live in a rural setting, off the grid and close to Earth. My queue has always been signature, I only wish I had left it thicker.  I want a mohawk but Niri Te ojects.  I plan to be in a loin cloth all summer,  there are few neighbors to offend.

Quote from: Question #10
If you could ask Frommer or Cameron three movie or language related questions what would they be?
Spoiler
You can make requests specific words/expressions too.
As a tsulfatu I need the word for needle. So that's the first word I would ask of Sempul Pawl.  Mostly, I would just want to mind meld with each of them!

Quote from: Question #11
FREE TIME? THERE IS SUCH A THING! NOBODY TOLD ME THAT!  I need to free up some time to do airbrushing, drawing and painting. I also want to do raku pottery, stained glass, and bronze casting

Quote from: Question #12
Name your top three favorite Earth animals from most favorite to least. Why those? What's the animal you're most terrified of?
Horses for their strength, power and grace
Elephants because they are strong but capable of gentleness and sweetness
Owls for their beauty in flight and because the owl sees through darkness
I HATE RATTLESNAKES!

Quote from: Question #13
Pirate, ninja, zombie, or robot?
Spoiler

PIRATE!  You oughta see me in a beard!  I don't want superpowers. But I want to be able to climb a rope and climb through, fall through, leap through trees like a Na'vi!

Quote from: Question #14
What three items would you take to a desert island and why?
Spoiler
I would go and be anywhere with my muntxate with me! Um, internet if I had a way to employ it, a stack of word puzzle books and my mandolin because I would have lots of time to practice and entertain myself!

Quote from: Question #15
If you could travel to anywhere in space and time (including fictional universes), where would you go and why?
Pandora of course, as a Na'vi peferably, and after the RDA was gone

Quote from: Question #16
If you were granted one single wish what would it be? SEE QUESTION ABOVE

Quote from: Question #17
What is a question you'd ask yourself? How would you answer it?
WHY DID I MAKE XYZ mistake in my life? Because Grasshopper, you were being prepared to meet Niri Te the greatest adventure of your life!

Quote from: Question #18
True or false?
Spoiler
A)I was married to a mortician in my younger years
B)I was a singer in a country western band for three years of my life
C)I rode with a motorcycle gang in my younger years

Quote from: Question #19: My Life is AVTR
What is the funniest, weirdest, or most embarrassing Na'vi or Avatar  related thing that has happened to you?
Spoiler
Ask me that after my trip from El Paso to Seattle dressed in blue paint and a smile

Quote from: Question #20: Bonus Question
If you could be in any film or TV show (other then AVATAR) what show would you be in and what would be your role?
BONES  I would be a forensic artist and model faces onto skulls But I like all the characters on that set!
I wouldn't ewnt to replace any one of them!

`Eylan Ayfalulukanä

Seykxel sì nitram, ma Ateyo Syaksyuk! You may now be the record holder for fastest-to-NoTW-from-signup-date!

Now, I know a little more about one of the people I will be sharing a vehicle with on the El-Paso-to-Seattle trip!

Your favorite animal choices are very interesting. And varied. I think you may be the first person to list elephants. I am with you on rattlesnakes. I don't mind snakes at all, and have seen them around the yard. But thankfully, no rattlesnakes.

Your art interests closely parallel mine, but I have very little artistic ability. The past three summers, I have been able to see a number of raku pottery demonstrations at the Colorado Renaissance Fair. The kiln the gentleman uses looks to easy to duplicate, and this kind of pottery is pretty noncritical. I like glass art of all kinds, and have almost taken stained glass classes. At least for me, soldering would never be a problem. (There is a glass blower at the aforementioned renaissance fair, and he is a lot of fun to  watch. Now, THAT takes some special equipment!) And bronze casting? We have a lot of good bronze art around Reno because of a wildlife artist here who works in bronze. He also does world-class taxidermy, and I love browsing through his showroom when it is open. There is also a 45 ton bronze lion in front of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas (maybe you will see it when you drive through Las Vegas). It is one of the largest bronze statues in the world. I did some brass casting (slightly different) in high school. It did not turn out too well. But, we will have a chance to talk about these things.

I hope you realize that Fi'u livu siltsan wasn't a compliment! With the <iv> infix in lu, it kind of says '(I) wish this (food) is good'!  :-[ But I think you know what she was trying to say!

As for your N/T questions:
These are tough! But I would say

1. T - Very possible, but I will guess this is not correct.
2. N - You have some musical background, so this is believable.
3. N - As a 'tomboy', this wouldn't surprise me.

Enjoy your week!

Yawey ngahu!

That's so cool that you and Niri Te are learning together and practicing together :) I am trying to teach my mate Na'vi. I'm hoping to have her at my level by the meet up but Idk if that will happen because we don't sit down for lessons very much.
