Here's the link to my Deviant Art account, specifically to the folder containing all the pictures I've been taking of my progress. I'm not done yet but I keep working!

Ma Reyn, Seykxel sì nitram!

Your answers are fascinating. Thanks for sharing.

My guesses for your T/F answers are:

   F/T/T

I have a few additional questions too.

1) What's your favorite thing about Chinese and what's motivating you to learn it? Are you studying Mandarin or a different Chinese?
2) I like your mural! Do you feel your artistic style is evocative of any specific style or other artist's work. What artists (or works) most inspire you?
3) What aspects of linguistics (specialization if any) are most interesting to you?

I look forward to your answers.  ;D

Nìkeftxo, my week as NotW has ended, and now I must give the answers to my T/F questions:
FALSE. I am not a natural redhead. I am actually a blonde!
TRUE. Jim Carrey was my first celebrity crush in that he was funny and when I was nine years old, I would watch Ace Ventura Pet Detective at least once every other day. He's why I love animals!
TRUE!! My dad and his brother were a comedy duo called "Them Hash Boys" and they played at the Pan Am Games in the 80's after my parents married.

Prrton, The answers to your questions are:
1. I thought I would learn Chinese because there are many people of Asian origin in my community, many more than in previous years. We do have as many if not more Hispanic-origin people living in Columbus, but Spanish is already a fairly popular second language. The woman who owns the local Oriental market is teaching me little bits of Chinese at a time, and I usually come to her store with a list of words that I'd like to learn that day. My favorite thing about Chinese is that it has its own unique sound to it, and the fact that it is a tonal language adds to the challenge. For some reason, I thought I would start with a "difficult" language and if I could master it, or at least gain a little proficiency, it would be worthwhile.

2.  First off, let me say that I have only taken one class on art and that was in the eighth grade, but I quit because the teacher wasn't teaching me what I wanted to learn. I bought a book on drawing Manga and took off from there. I even borrowed a human anatomy book and drew muscles so that I could get a feel for how the body looks realistically and how to get all that information onto the page. In short, I am completely self-taught. I'm influenced by a lot of artists, actually: Brett Booth, Boris Vallejo, Chris Achilleos, Christy Grandjean, Luis Royo, Julie Bell, Giovanni Civardi, and the comic book artists Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko of Marvel Comics. The majority of these artists are fantasy and science fiction artists, and I've been into art (drawing, mostly. Drawing people and animals is my passion.) since I was seventeen, comic books and graphic novels since I was twenty. I don't "see" much influence in my art, but I have many books written by these artists and they hold deep and sacred secrets regarding light, shade, color, perspective, and all the little "magic tricks" that make art admirable. The only thing I really try to do is acheive the "illusion" of depth and light, because that is all art really is: an illusion. To perceive a two-dimensional plane as a three-dimensional space is the real challenge, and I just love it.

3. The whole of linguistics is fascinating! Since I was very young, I have always wanted to speak ALL the languages of the world. I even have a pretty good ear for sounds and accents. It was natural for me to use Scottish, English, Irish, Russian, German and Romanian accents whenever I wanted to be funny. I'm even aquiring a pretty good Na'vi accent! Learning Na'vi was the key that opened the door to my interest in Linguistics. Now, I'm seeking to minor in that field and possibly work as a translator. Language is fascinating, and I believe that to speak a language other than your own helps one to think like another, by erasing the line that language barriers draw between cultures and people.
