Yayo

Not to be confused with Yayo, I am Yayo.. EDIT: I am now able to change my name to Yayo! It would seem that the inactive account has been deleted! Farewell, Mr. Period!I apologise in advance; this week's post is very extensive... Yeah, just a heads up.

Quote from: Question #1Who are you?
Privet everyone!

My name is Yayo. and on here on 'Rrta I am known as "Callum". I was born on the 2nd of June, 1995 in the East Fremantle hospital in Perth, Western Australia, Australia. I lived in Lynwood until I was ten, and then moved to a town/village/suburb called Thornlie which is now where I currently reside. I have been learning Na'vi since October/November of last year and have gotten to where I am without any assistance; I have "taught myself" as some would say. I feel that this is better; it has allowed me to explore the limitations of the language myself and how to apply them to everyday speech. I will say (and I am not ashamed) that I am most certainly, without a doubt, am a slave to this forum; spending countless hours on it during the weekend exploring all that it has to offer. You can draw this conclusion from my total time logged in. Keep in mind that I don't go on the computer during the week also ;). You may have seen on my profile the languages of which I speak. These include English (mother tongue), Na'vi (second language), French (I took for two years and am able to read but not write as well as I read) and Russian (which I am currently learning with the assistance of my good friend Hashe). Unlike my Na'vi and English, my Russian is almost non existent - I haven't even bothered to memorise the Cryllic alphabet yet. I know that I should be more enthusiastic with my learning of Russian, but I know that I will soon get there. If you didn't deduce my age from my year of birth, I am fifteen years old and am currently in Year 11 at school. I attend John Wollaston Anglican Community School or J.W.A.C.S. and I have been there since the beginning of the school year. I am currently studying subjects which will project me into a career of Physics and Engineering; I will have to study at university first of course ;). I am sort of employed; I work for a catering company that gives me a job when I tell them I'm available - which I seldom do. My parents are divorced and I live with my mother and my sister; I've grown up outnumbered by gender my entire life. My sister is 18 and has just been named on the Australian Women's Baseball squad which will visit America to play in an international tournament during August of next year. She is studying Architecture at university, enrolling at the start of this year. My mother's name is Karen and is participating in the Canadian Death Race; a perilous running race that covers about 125 km and altitude changes of several thousand feet. She recently participated in the relay for life; a run for charity which lasted 24 hours and entailed competitors running around a 400m running track continuously for 24 hours. They were allowed to stop and run whenever they liked; keeping in mind that this ate into their track time. She managed to complete 100km which I think is an astonishing feat! Her blog can be found here.

Quote from: Question #2Why are you here?
Oddly enough, Wikipedia. I spend a lot of time on Wikipedia as I like to browse random articles. If I see or hear something which I am curious about, I will "Wikipedia it" - a phrase which I commonly use. Yes, of course I fell in love with the language! I asked my Mum to print off "a few" things for learning Na'vi and she came home from work with over 300 pages of resource. Her response was "Oh, these are a 'few' things, are they?". I then proceeded to create a Na'vi file which contained;

- Taronyu's Dictionaries
- NeoTrekkerz's N.i.a.N.
- The Horen Reference (which I absolutely love!)
- Miscellaneous LN documents
- IPA sheet

I then spent the next several months studying every single day; even in the library during recess and lunch breaks during school! Others thought that I was strange but some girls even dug it! I really didn't care about the opinions of others.

I recently went on a "around the world" holiday and took this folder with me (possibly making it the most travelled LN resource). I travelled to London, then to Paris, then to Nuremburg, then to Kiel, then to Berlin, then to New York, then to Florida and then finally to Oregon and oscillated between Philomath and Corvallis for the remaining week and a half. I was really eager to meet some of you that were near these locations but unfortunately, I was unable to. One day after leaving Kiel, I received a message from Talis notifying me that he lived in Kiel. This merited a rage quit.

Why wouldn't I decide to stay here? I love this place; the people, the available content and the sheer ability to speak another language is enough to make me. I love LN and I love [you].

Quote from: Question #3Where do your alias and profile picture come from?
Well, this is quite a long and funny story. You see, the name "Callum" is Scottish for "Dove". So "Yayo" sufficed as being the closest translation. Now, I chose the adjective "Seykxel" just because I felt that it suited my personality. There was my name, Yayo (A)Seykxel. I only then found at in Florida during my holiday that my surname actually meant "strong", scary coincidence eh? Since day one, I knew of the required ADJ-ATTR NOUN rule yet I didn't take notice of my name and the fact that it was incorrect, "Yayo Seykxel". Upon noticing this, I quickly changed it to "Yayo (Aseykxel) and decided that I didn't like it. I then proceeded to shorten it to "Yayo" only to find out that there is an inactive account called "Yayo". To get around this, I merely put a period at the end of my name to "trick" the server. Since then, it has caused confusion and frustration, especially for Markì. I remember writing a "philosophical" quote that went "Even something as insignificant as a period can be the difference between two people". Yeah, it's quite lame. Rather unsurprisingly, my picture is that a bird. I try to change my picture as often as possible and try to ensure that they are comical as I am very comical myself.

Quote from: Question #4Srak nga tsun nìna'vi pivlltxe?
Srane, oe tsun pivlltxe nìna'vi.. Tupe ke tsun fìkempe sivi? Oe ke pamrel si  nìtxan mì "nìna'vi nì'aw" hìngur slä oe sunu plltxe ulte pamrel soli ne suteru (sì oeyä eylanru) mì Skxaypxe. Learning Na'vi has caused me to take a sudden interest in Languages. I just wanted to learn the language; to be able to speak it with others. I have done that and I am happy. I tried to convert others but alas, I was unsuccessful.

Quote from: Question #5 What's you favorite Na'vi word? Did you incorporate it (or others) into your everyday vocabulary?
I love the word Ngawng - don't ask why. I used it (inevitably) when I spoke to Ngawng but we have since grown apart and I rarely use the word anymore. I also love the word Txe'lan - again, don't ask why. I don't know about everyone else but I love trilled rrs! I have recorded Sxkxawng's trilled rr tongue twister and have given to anyone who needs help with pronunciation. This is a difficult question: I don't really have a "favourite" word. I think that every word (if pronounced correctly sounds beautiful.

Quote from: Question #6In your opinion, what are the top three user-created content on the LN website?
Hmm, this is difficult as I haven't used much content from the website.
1. The Horen Reference (EPIC)
2. Taronyu's Dictionaries
3. The Russian Forum - fpi sìhrh
4. (Because I can't not include this) Ikran Ahiyìk's Sheet Music

Quote from: Question #7Have you made any contributions to the LN community that you're particularly proud of?
I don't like to openly boast and I feel that I haven't really contributed much to the forum, this is why I contemplated leaving at one stage. Then I remembered how many friends I had on here and I certainly wasn't ready to let them down. Apart from teaching a few people and suggesting the creation of a few boards, I haven't done much apart from submitting one LEP word - which I'm sure everyone has done ;).

Quote from: Question #8What is it that you liked/hated the most about Avatar ?
I saw the movie for the first time in IMAX 3D on the 17th of December, 2009 - its release date in my state. The waiting period had been long and painful - my friends and I were drooling over the Wikipedia article for months before the release. When it was finally released, it was absolutely amazing! The release date of the movie coincided with the final day of the school year, so it as sort of a celebration as well as an epic experience. Since seeing the movie (and keeping in mind that certain movies affect my mood afterwards), I didn't speak to anyone for a few days. I was taken to a truly beautiful place and didn't want to leave. I was placed almost in a "depressed state" after leaving the theatre. When I arrived home looking so sad, my Mum asked "So the movie was that much of a disappointment?". I merely ignored the comment and went to bed. I then saw the movie in theatres  again, only in 3D. That was all I saw of Avatar for the time being. I then avoided the movie for a while because I knew that if I watched it again, I would again become depressed. It was only until after I found LN that I was able to watch Avatar and appreciate it for what a marvel of production it was, rather than a rude reminder that Pandora did not exist. I have since bought the Collector's Edition and again fallen in love with the Extended editions, despite the fact that they are only about 10 minutes longer. My "Avadtardness" exceeds the limitations of the word "Avatard". I have figurines, 4 copies of the film, posters, cups, unofficial paintings, books, cosplay items, Avatar inspired knives, the Game and of course the ability to speak the language. Yes, I love Avatar.. somewhat. When it was revealed that The Hurt Locker won Best Film at the Oscars, my friends hated me for a week. They never heard the end of my rants about "How the heck could that dumb movie have beaten Avatar? How Shane? HOW??!". Yes, I wept for Avatar and I admit that I was probably a sore loser. After I got past my ranting, I attempted to convert a few of my friends to LN. Only having one successfully sign up, he continues to be inactive since the day that he registered. I remain to be the only Perthian Na'vi on here, and it saddens me to know this. I am hopeful though, that another one of my kind will appear here.. I am as I say, hopeful. I believe that I am the first Australian recipient of NotW which is one small step for a man, one giant leap for the Na'vi for Australia.

The one thing I hate about the language is the word nì'awtu – "alone". "Alone" is clearly an adjective but it has been constructed as a noun, which is stupid. The closest possibly noun to the adjective "alone" would probably be "loner" but this is colloquial. Apart from this slight annoyance, it is impossible to hate Na'vi.

Quote from: Question #9Has Avatar  changed your life in any way?
I have commandeered a fallen tree in the bush land around the corner of my house and named it Oeyä Kelutral. I have visited this only twice and have decided to neglect it hereafter. I have taken it upon myself to train with a staff (for this moment, a broom handle) as I find it a very effective weapon. I now run barefoot when I can and I love to feel grass between my toes. I have always contemplated "building" a costume but I feel that my family may disown me if I even consider it. Let's leave it until I'm in college and I can walk around the MIT campus wearing a full cosplay - I'm sure people will think I'm trolling.
Avatar has definitely changed my life. I was already cautious of the environment and thoroughly informed on all of the potential threats that we face a race but the film has opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of further Astronomical research. If we're in the process of bidding for the most powerful optical and radio telescope that can ever be built (thus far), the SKA, who knows what we will potentially discover. "The endless undiscovered possibilities are waiting to be discovered by those who possess the passion the discover them."

Quote from: Question #10If you could ask Frommer or Cameron three movie or language related questions what would they be?
1. Pawl: What caused you to change your direction of Astronomy to Linguistics? I know that you decided that you didn't want to do it but what really caused you to change?

2. Cameron: WHEN I discover a planet that has the ability to host life and already has an indigenous race, how will you sue me when I name that indigenous race "Na'vi"? Do you have to sue me? :(

3. Pawl: At an estimate, how many words do you think the vocabulary will have expanded to by the end of this decade?

Quote from: Question #11What else do you do in you free time?
Wow, apart from LN, I don't really have much of a life. I am a rare breed of child: I love both school and sport. I am "an all rounder", as my friend Matt says. I am studying the equivalent of AP Calculus, Chemistry and Physics at school and absolutely love it. I have learnt more in this first term than I did in the entire year of last. I play Ultimate Frisbee twice a week for Murdoch/Curtin University and am not ashamed to admit that our mascot is an Orca. Yes, an Orca. Our team name is UFOrca. I insist on pronouncing it "YOU-FORKAS!". Yeah, I take it when I can. I also enjoy photography: my mother has a Nikon D60 (DSLR) that I take photos with occasionally. A few examples can be found in the spoiler below. I do Astrophotography, Sports and Wildlife photography for fun. So, I study, play sports and read. That is truly about it. Oh, I do have a Na'vi blog which I've updated twice. Yeah, I'm lazy.

I used to teach Ftxavanga Txe'lan as a part of the Neytiri Project and from this, I have come to love her (as a friend)! She truly is a fantastic person. I am sad that our lessons do not occur anymore, I really, really enjoyed.  Other than that, I have yelling conversation with Pavel (Hashe) and simultaneously teach him English and he simultaneously teaches me Russian. What I choose to remember of Russian is another story. Oh, and thanks Seth for creating the project, IT IS EPIC.

Quote from: Question #12Name your top three favorite Earth animals from most favorite to least. Why those? What's the animal you're most terrified of?
1. Reptiles: I know, too general. I keep them and they're absolutely epic.
2. Dogs: We have two of them and I prefer the larger "varieties"
3. Pavel ("Hashe" on LN): He's fun to annoy and a loyal brother. This handsome fella is very awesome too.

Quote from: Question #13Pirate, ninja, zombie, or robot?
A silent, gold heisting, one eyed super computer with dual wielding swords.

Quote from: Question #14What three items would you take to a desert island and why?
1. Paul (Hashe) Sandberg: My good friend. Something to annoy and someone to talk to
2. MacGyver : he'd help me escape ;)
3. Pending that a food and liquid source will be available at the 12 star hotel when I arrive at the island , I would request a Galil with unlimited ammunition: I like this weapon (as portrayed in Call of Duty: Black Ops) and would simply request it for... no reason.

Quote from: Question #15If you could travel to anywhere in space and time (including fictional universes), where would you go and why?
221B Baker Street. I quite admire the resident and I have found that we have a lot in common. I find him a bit of a scallywag and I trust that we would get along very well. If you don't know who lives here, "Wikipedia it!".

Quote from: Question #16If you were granted one single wish what would it be?
To attend MIT as a double major. This has been my ultimate goal for nearly two years now and I will continue to seek it for years to come.

Quote from: Question #17What is a question you'd ask yourself? How would you answer it?
Q "Why do you insist on procrastinating so much?!"
A "Meh, I'll tell you later."

Quote from: Question #18True or false?

1. My Great, Great Uncle is Glenn Odekirk. If you don't know him, "Wikipedia it".
2. I have nearly died from infection twice in my life.
3. I found the 7 hours of standing in one spot waiting for the Ball to drop in Time's Square very, very comfortable.

Quote from: Question #19: My Life is AVTRWhat is the funniest, weirdest, or most embarrassing Na'vi or Avatar  related thing that has happened to you?
Oh. Definitely my Mother blurting out "MY SON SPEAKS NA'VI" when we had our "Renovation Warming" party. I was then flooded with inquiries. Thanks Mum. [/sarcasm]

Quote from: Question #20: Bonus Question... as asked by Ikran Ahiyìk :P

Well, I hope you have enjoyed reading this and I would like to thank all for helping me throughout my journey but for now, I will thank specific people.

- Kì'eyawn: during the countless times we've messaged through PM, you've managed to be patient with me, regardless of how annoying I was.
- Ikran Ahiyìk: Of course for voting me in and producing such fine music ;)
- Ftxavanga Txe'lan: You have always been a nice person to talk to, I do really miss our lessons
- Hashe: Dude, you know why ;)
Tirea Aean: Ah, the ol' Baltimorian. You didn't really teach me (like you have done with everyone else) but I feel that we have had many civilised ;) conversations together. I cannot wait for your return.
Eltu Lefngap 'Eveng: What can I say? A great guy to talk to on Skype
Markì: For tolerating my many suggestions for new boards and PMs.. You work too hard, mate ;)
Nyx: I swear we're brother and sister we're so alike. You have served as a person to talk to on Skype when I was bored and feeling down. You bring me back up. Oh, say "cheese"!
Ngawng:If you're reading this, I made a stupid mistake and I'm sorry :(
Ikranari:Who is this guy? I think he's a 14 year old Norweigan boy.. Anyway, he's awesome. Yes, we've had awesome spam sessions. ;)
Eyawng te klltepayu:Again, another Skype buddy who loves to watch British comedies. You've moved to my country and you're as Australian as anyone else ;)
Alyara Arati: Newly found friend! I enjoy our often extensive conversations via PM. I'm glad I took the initiative to speak to you ;)

Here are my bonus questions for my successor, whoever it may be.

Please, feel free to add me on Skype! My username is in my signature and I love having conversations with anyone!
