'Itan Atxur

Quote from: Question #1Who are you?
My real name is Ben. I live in Goffstown, NH. I've lived in Syracuse NY, South Carolina, and various other places in NH. I am 23 years old (24 in less than a month).

I graduated high school in 2005 and went straight to work at my local grocery stores deli. I intend to go to college someday but for various reasons I believe it would be a waste of my time and money to go back to school now. I like physical labor anyways. Definitely a blue collar kind of guy.

Besides working retail I also am a writer. I haven't finished anything yet, but I've got a few ideas that I think have a lot of potential. I've actually got the intro to one of my books on this site somewhere.  My friends and I are also trying to start a video production company (sullivan-media.com), but our work schedules make it difficult to get together and do anything.

I get along very well with all my family members. My dad, brother, and I get together regularly and play football or go skiing. We have many family traditions including tomato canning in September.
I took two years of Latin and three of German and yet I hardly remember a word of either. My Na'vi isn't top notch either ;)

Quote from: Question #2Why are you here?
Well, I first came to this site to spite my parents. We were discussing the Na'vi and my parents said learning a fake language was a waste of time... so I decided to learn it. Finding this site was easy. It was the top option on google.

I quickly found that I really like the Na'vi language and learned far more of it than I ever expected to given my poor history with languages. Currently I really only know vocabulary (1000 words when I was at my best) and very light grammar. I only spend one or two hours here a day, but generally not all in one chunk. I check my unread replies, reply to them, see who's online, then sign off.

Quote from: Question #3Where do your alias and profile pic come from?
My profile pic is an avatarization of me done by our very own brilliant and talented member "Kxeyey". Though before this I used the McDonalds avatar app with a picture of Jim Sturgis because apparently I look like him.

'Itan Atxur is just a loose translation of my name.

I used to add the "stamp" below to all my posts but stopped a while ago. My LN ego is already big enough :-[

;D ;D

-Itan Atxur (anybody remember this?)

Quote from: Question #4Srak nga tsun nìna'vi pivlltxe?
I can read most of the basic stuff written here, but that's about it. Often times I'm lost if the poster doesn't also post a translation. I used to study a lot and I still have all my tools installed on my computer.

Quote from: Question #5What's you favorite Na'vi word? Did you incorporate it (or others) into your everyday vocab?
Keye'ung... or Atxkxe... or Mawey... or Kxeyey... I don't know, I like too many of them! If I have to pick one though, I'll go with Keye'ung.

Quote from: Question #6In your opinion, what are the top three user-created content on the LN website?
I've probably forgotten some amazing user created content but here's what I like off the top of my head:

1)   Ftiafpi's spoken words. Without these I would have lost interest in the language fast. Very helpful for pronunciation too.

2)   Kxeyey's art work.

3)   Prof. K Miller's (aka: Kxani Tsaheylu for those who knew her before the name change) version of "I see you".

Quote from: Question #7Have you made any contributions to the LN community that you're particularly proud of?
Most of my contributions have been to "Project Tribal". I helped to write the projects mission statement and have organized and reorganized the Tribe board many times. While I'm proud of the contributions I've made to the project, every member has contributed in various ways and has helped to shape this project into what it is today. Though we are currently going through a very slow period, because of the help and suggestions of every member we have the foundation to continue the project at any point.

Quote from: Question #8What is it that you liked/hated the most about Avatar ?
The movie caught me by surprise when I first saw it and never let go for a second from the opening scene to the end credits. Everything about the movie is perfect from the sound to the visuals to the Na'vi in the background to the subtleties of each character. Nothing is out of place, nothing is unintentional.

If I had to pick something I didn't like, it's the scene where the bulldozers knock down all the trees. It's not the quality of the scene I don't like... it's the color!! It's just too yellow.

I only saw the movie 17 times in theaters (same seat almost every time!) but have lost track of how many times I've watched it start to finish on DVD. Plus, I often keep it running on loop in the background.

Quote from: Question #9Has Avatar  changed your life in any way?
The daily effect it once had on me is now essentially gone, though I don't think a single day has gone by where I haven't at least thought of Avatar. All my friends know I'm an extreme Avatard and every opportunity they get to poke fun of me they take full advantage of ;).

I used to practice free running because of Avatar but haven't in a while. I did find that my skiing skills greatly improved after adopting the "learn fast or die" mind set.

I joined Project Tribal because of the effect Avatar has had on me. While we do intend to live a tribal lifestyle like the Na'vi, we know that we are not Na'vi and have to live by real life rules, which is a major reason it's been so difficult to make any real progress with this project.

Quote from: Question #10If you could ask Frommer or Cameron three movie or language related questions what would they be?
Cameron: Why didn't you take my parents friend as an extra?!?

Cameron: What's it like being king of the world?

Frommer: What do you say to people who think learning fake languages is a waste of time?

Quote from: Question #11What else do you do in you free time?
I absolutely LOVE football. I love to watch my Rams play (and until recently "lose") on Sunday and I love playing with my friends and family. I also play paintball and have an extensive collection of Traxxas remote controlled trucks.

My friends and I are all gamers, but for the most part we're all on different systems. We do all love racing games and are looking to recruit for "The Defective Rejects" racing team in Forza 3.

I'm also a movie addict. According to Netflix I've seen over 2,000 movies. My favorites being Avatar, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Juno, The Music Man (Matthew Broderick), Apollo 13, and Donnie Darko among others (my top 10 movies consists of WELL over 10 movies, hrh).

Quote from: Question #12Name your top three favorite Earth animals from most favorite to least. Why those? What's the animal you're most terrified of?
1)   Cats. I've had cats my entire life. There's a reason they're worshiped by the Egyptians :)

2)   Umm, more cats? All right, I'll go with Tigers.

3)   Lions.
Quote from: Question #13Pirate, ninja, zombie, or robot?
Vampires. Hands down vampires. Not the evil ones either. The nice ones like in the Underworld series.

Quote from: Question #14What three items would you take to a desert island and why?
1)   Water Purifier.

2)   Medical Supplies.

3)   Top of the line gaming computer with internet connection :D

Quote from: Question #15If you could travel to anywhere in space and time (including fictional universes), where would you go and why?
I'd like to think that this is a question that I have to think about, but I don't. Pandora without a doubt. Who here doesn't want to live with the Na'vi?

Quote from: Question #16If you were granted one single wish what would it be?
I'd wish for exactly what I wanted most, whatever that may be.

Quote from: Question #17What is a question you'd ask yourself? How would you answer it?
Q: Who should I choose for the next NotW?

A: Tough question! There are WAY too many people I want to nominate!!

Quote from: Question #18True or false?
1)   Sal Paolantonio's (ESPN reporter) daughter stayed at our place for two weeks while campaigning for Howard Dean and convinced her dad to let my brother and I work for him during the Titans vs Patriots home playoff game meaning we'd be on the sidelines during the game.

2)   I once lost control of one of my remote controlled trucks slamming it into a cement wall at 40 mph. The truck took no damage while the wall lost a large chunk and had a huge tire mark on it.

3)   While playing football I once made a dramatic one handed catch essentially behind my back while it tight double coverage as I was in the process of being tackled on the sideline.

Quote from: Question #19: My Life is AVTRWhat is the funniest, weirdest, or most embarrassing Na'vi or Avatar  related thing that has happened to you?
Nothing too crazy here. The best I've got is one of my co-workers whom I didn't know liked Avatar greeted me with "Kaltxì". She never learned any more of the language :(.

Quote from: Question #20: Bonus Question...
If you were offered $25 million in exchange for never again doing anything Avatar-related for the rest of your life, would you take the money?
No I wouldn't. For two reasons. One is that I just love Avatar too much and could never abandon the forum or Project Tribal. The other is that even if I did take it I know that I would slip and have to give the money back.

Well said. JC didn't let anything slip and it's quite evident :)

Quote from: 'Itan AtxurI don't think a single day has gone by where I haven't at least thought of Avatar.

The day I stop thinking about Avatar and Na'vi is the day I die.

Quote from: 'Itan AtxurFrommer: What do you say to people who think learning fake languages is a waste of time?

I am SO asking him this next month! Tho I'm not going to use 'fake' because Na'vi is truly not a fake language. It is newly created as all languages had to be at some point.
