Who are you?

Tell us about yourself! Where are you coming from, what languages do you speak, what do you do, how old are you, tell us a few words about your family, work etc. This is the job interview part.

Kaltxì, I am a 17 year-old male named Thomas, but most of you know me as Txantslusam Skxawng, which is directly translated: Wise Moron. I live in The Netherlands, in a homble town called Born. I only speak a few languages, Dutch, English, Limburgs(<- this is my dialect ) and a little bit of Deutsch. Limburgs is a lot like Deutsch, so mostly when I need to talk Deutsch to someone and I don't know a word, I think of the Limburgs word for it and say that. Most of the time the person understands then.

Currently I am a student at Leeuwenborgh Opleiding in Sittard, just 15 min away from my home town. I am doing Electrotechnology & Managnement at school. But it basically comes down to electrical engineering. As for a job I deliver the Sundaynews every Saturday, but this summer I am going to look a different job, one that involves more of stuff from my education.

Why are you here?

What brought you here to the Learn Na'vi forum in the first place? Did you fall in love with the language? With Pandora? With a character? Did someone invite you? Or did you stumble upon this site? Once here, why did you decide to stay? How much time do you spend here every day?

Well ofcourse the one and only James Cameron brought me here! When I saw the trailer for the first time I thought, that might be a cool movie. I first went to it on January 17, 2010 with my dad and after the first time seeing it ( I went again a week later, 3-D version, the week after that and that for about 2 or 3 weeks. Basically went to see Avatar every Saturday or Sunday for a month long ), I fell in love with the language. So I went onto the internet and looked for some info, got to the official site and looked around in the dictonary. A few days later, I saw the word Forum as a link, so I clicked on it and got to this forum, I also think I registerd like right away. I spend a lot of time here, I try to be here as much as I can. I first came here for the language, but now I am still here because of all you guys!

Where do your alias and profile pic come from?

Do they have a special significance? Is you alias a translation of your real name, or just a bunch of random letters thrown together? Is that you on your profile pic?

My first pic was Jake, just before he went in to get his Ikran. After that I had Neytiri ( smiling ), I use Print Screen to get that pic. And now I have a pic of Ariana Grande, she is my favourite actress and singer right now. Not does she just have a beautifull voice, she also has a kind personality and also spends a lot time on Twitter, tweeting her fans.

And my name, that is a funny story. I wanted to come up with a good name, but I didn't know what to call myself.... So after some thinking I came up with Txantslusam Skxawng. Cuz I can be smart sometimes and some others times... well I guess you already figured that one out. So there I got my name and registered, then I found out I had spelled my name wrong. So I deleted my account and made a new one, also spelled wrong, deleted my account and one my third try it was correct. Three times it took me make my account, then when I had it correct, I went to profile to fill in some more data and there I found out you could change your screen-name -_- I really felt like a skxawng there.

How well? Why did you start to learn it? What is your ultimate goal with the language? Do you have specific methods/tools you use in learning the language? How did your friends, family, or colleagues react to your interest in learning Na'vi? Have you told them at all? Have you converted any of them?

Not really.... I am have trouble getting started... I wanted to start in my summer vacation. Since I got my diploma and I got 3 months of vacation. But had spend one day learning.... Which I had forgotten all about the day after. I know kaltxì and ngaru lu fpom srak? Also HRH, what was it again... he rang hung?

My friends act normal when I said I was learning the language, well... pretty normal. They only asked me.. ''Why would you want to learn it.'' and I always said ''Because I love the language.''. One of my friends always said to me ''Won't you better learn a language that you can actually use here, like Russian.'' ( He always said Russian as an example )

What's you favorite Na'vi word? Did you incorporate it (or others) into your everyday vocab?

That has only been one word so far.

'atokirina – seeds of the sacred tree

There is something about that word that I love, maybe the way how you say it or how you write it. I haven't figured that out yet. Unfortunately I don't use it everyday.

In your opinion, what are the top three user-created content on the LN website?

Have you made any contributions to the LN community that you're particularly proud of?

What made you make those? Do you plan on contributing (again) in the future? How?

No, I have not. Basically because I am not old enough, I am 17. But when I am able to get legally make an PayPal account and be use it from time to time, I will make a contribution.

What is it that you liked/hated the most about Avatar ?

How many times have you seen it? How big of an Avatard are you? Prove it!

I love Avatar very much and in the first few weeks, my friends had to bare the awesomeness I kept talking about. But after some time, my friends asked me to stop talking about Avatar, since they got bored of it. It still took me two weeks to stop talking about Avatar.
So far, I've seen Avatar about 35 times. 6 viewings were in thearte and in a few days, Avatar is back is cinema here. So I am going to see it on the big screen then. My favourite moment in the movie still is when Jake goes to fly his Ikran for the first time. Definetly!

So if you live near the Dutch border, near Sittard-Geleen, you can go to Avatar. Rijksweg Noord 330, Geleen, Limburg, The Netherlands. That is the adress of the cinema. Its back for a while in theatres starting September 15th.

Has Avatar  changed your life in any way?

Are you trying to become a Na'vi? How and to what extent? Do you live on a tree? Do you wear your hair in a long braid? Or are you just simply blue? Do you bond with animals? Is Gaia on your contact list? Did you have your photo 'shopped?

It did changed my life, it changed my views at certain things. Important things, like the environment.

And I did have my photo 'shopped, by Tìngay mungeyu, a lot of thanks to her. But ofcourse I tried to become a Na'vi. For carnaval, but I couldn't get the materials that I needed together

If you could ask Frommer or Cameron three movie or language related questions what would they be?

What else do you do in you free time?

I spend time here ( duh! ), swimming and Jong Nederland. Jong Nederland can be compared with a scouting, but then a little different. We don't have the many rules, we don't learn how to tie a rope and we don't wear an scouting outfit.
One of the plus things are, when a scouting goes somewhere, they go there walking. We go by car, hehe, much easier.

Name your top three favorite Earth animals from most favorite to least. Why those? What's the animal you're most terrified of?

Dogs ( I first loved cats more, but when we got a dog, his name is Yoek and he is 7 years old now, I converted to a dog loving person )
Cats ( Cuz they look cute in pics and we have one at home, he loves doing weird stuff )
Mosquito ( It itches afterwards )

Pirate, ninja, zombie, or robot?

What three items would you take to a desert island and why?

Anything from books, movies, games, instruments, music, sporting equipment, etc. You'd be provided with means to fully utilize the chosen items – electricity, MP3 player, etc. –, but you couldn't use them for anything else. Escape is not possible.

1. An Asus laptop ( to keep in touch in you guys and others )
2. A Digital Camera to upload pics
3. And a workbench, to make stuff like a chair or table ( gotta make it comfy, right! )

If you could travel to anywhere in space and time (including fictional universes), where would you go and why?

Florida, USA. I would wanna go there to meet Ariana Grande! And when I am there anyway, I would also want to go to the beach

If you were granted one single wish what would it be?

Apart from always being able to make a wish....

I would wish we stopped using fossil fuels right away and started working on a better environment.

Hearing from my friends that I was talking some language they never heard, after a night at a party. That was Na'vi. ( I wasn't drunk Normally I am a quiet guy and I just talk more after some beers, cuz I think, ah, what the hell, I had a few beers, I can blame it on that. )

We all know about democracy and tolerance. But what do you think... Does excessive freedom of speech, actions, etc damages the culture's health so much?

That is a very good question and a though one to answer, I'll try to answer it in English as best as I can.
It depends on how much of freedom of speech and actions. There are always people who go a bit extreme. Still I think we deserve freedom of speech, as long as you don't hurt anyone's feelings. When you think about something before you say it, it won't hurt the culture ( and other cultures ) so much.
