AketuanNavi

(before I begin, I apologize for the various AvatarMeet advertisements   ;)   )

Quote from: Question #1Who are you?

Kaltxì frapo.  :) I'm Aketuan. (20, male)

Like most everyone else here, I love Avatar, and in general sci-fi. Star Trek is definitely my favorite tv show of all time. (TNG>VOY=DS9>ENT>TOS)

Unlike most here, I play table tennis competitively. And yes it is a sport.  ;) I practice 3 times a week, and have won several state competitions (lower levels). My style is looping/lobbing.

I also am a HUGE outdoorsman. On any given week you will find me hiking/camping/backpacking/mtn biking somewhere. I am fortunate to live within an hour of literally 100s of miles of wilderness/grasslands/national parks/national forests ranging from 5,000 ft, to 14,500 ft. (alpine tundra).

A few months ago I summited 10 peaks over 12,000 ft, within one day.

I also just a few weeks ago, raced in a 24 hour mountain bike race. (lots of fun)

Other shots of my "pandora":

Oh, I am studying Computer Engineering at Colorado State University, and like it a lot.

Quote from: Question #2Why are you here?

After the first viewing of Avatar, I was completely surprised at the effect it had on me. I joined AF, then ToS, and finally LN. Meeting new friends along the way.

Honestly I joined here last year, because I was interested in the 2011 meetup in Seattle. I was looking into either the June one or the July one and I needed someone to carpool with. Unfortunately no-one could and things went the other way, I went in June (and missed meeting a lot of you in July.   :'(  )

While here, I decided to take up learning some basics of the language. I didn't have much time due to classes though and I know very little.

Quote from: Question #3Where do your alias and profile pic come from?

Basically just a picture of an Aspen tree on a trail. ( my favorite kind here)

Oh and the name I got a long while back in a generator...it kinda stuck.

Quote from: Question #4Srak nga tsun nìna'vi pivlltxe?

Not well. I know the very basics (<40 words/phrases) I just don't have the time to put into it, but I do like it a lot.

Quote from: Question #5What's you favorite Na'vi word? Did you incorporate it (or others) into your everyday vocab?

hmm, tough one, not really sure, maybe txantsan (I just like how it sounds)

Quote from: Question #6In your opinion, what are the top three user-created content on the LN website?

again a tough one, since I'm not primarily here for the language...

Quote from: Question #7Have you made any contributions to the LN community that you're particularly proud of?

Yes, planning the future AvatarMeet meetups.  :)

In 2011, it was the most awesome experience EVER. I got to meet many of you in Seattle and see the Avatar Exhibit. Definitely something I will never forget. Meeting people from different backgrounds/cultures that all have common ideals and love of Avatar...nothing like it...

Now as 2012 approaches, we are looking at >50 people meeting up, with a huge cosplay event, camping/backpacking trip/avatar exhibit/na'vi lessons....the combination of both groups from 2011 as well as a lot of other people from various forums as well.

As part of the planning team, I am here to ensure that AvatarMeet 2012, will be the most awesome Avatar experience/event that anyone could ask for. I spend around 5 hours a week currently putting things together with the rest of the team, and it will all be worth it come next July.  :)

Quote from: Question #8What is it that you liked/hated the most about Avatar ?

The reason Avatar resonated so well with me, was because it coincided with so many of my existing values/likes.

1. sci-fi       (my favorite genre)
2. environmental message   ( I had been actively participating over the years...Riverwatch...ect)
3. Outdoors feel to it  (definitely my style)
4. Blue  (my favorite color)
5. soundtrack     (I love soundtrack music/trailer music, and I feel that a soundtrack makes a movie, and this one was great)
6. technical stuff   (being a computer engineer major, I love to see how it was done)

Quote from: Question #9Has Avatar  changed your life in any way?

Ok, the answer is a definite YES.

The movie was great no doubt about it, and the feeling from it changed my life, however, the real deal, was finding people who had similar interests as me. All most all of my life, I have been surrounded by people that have completely different interests/values than me. I joined ToS and later LN, and found a lot of people that had similar interests and that were effected by the movie, like I was.

100% I'm changed. I now have dozens of new friends from around the world, that I wouldn't trade for anything.  :)

Quote from: Question #10If you could ask Frommer or Cameron three movie or language related questions what would they be?

1. Avatar 2/3  what's the plan?
2. Did you know how the much effect your movie would have on people?
3. Would you like to Join us in Seattle next year?   :P

Quote from: Question #11What else do you do in you free time?

See question 1.

outdoors/table tennis/computers/plan AvatarMeet 2012...ect

Quote from: Question #12Name your top three favorite Earth animals from most favorite to least. Why those? What's the animal you're most terrified of?

1. Snowshoe hare
2. Tree Frog  (my pet frog is named ikrantsyìp)
3. Eagle

Quote from: Question #13Pirate, ninja, zombie, or robot?

zombie. have more fun, I think  :P

Quote from: Question #14What three items would you take to a desert island and why?

hammock
iphone
table tennis stuff

Quote from: Question #15If you could travel to anywhere in space and time (including fictional universes), where would you go and why?

Star Trek Universe     (possibly DS9, or on Voyager..not sure)
2nd choice is Pandora of course.

Quote from: Question #16If you were granted one single wish what would it be?

Have the experience Jake did (not technically possible)....or find my "Neytiri" (possible)

Quote from: Question #17What is a question you'd ask yourself? How would you answer it?

What Next? "The woods are calling...and I must go" -John Muir

Quote from: Question #18True or false?

Ok here we go:

1. I have summited a peak over 14,000 ft
2. I have scuba dived
3. I think Macs are superior to PCs

Quote from: Question #19: My Life is AVTRWhat is the funniest, weirdest, or most embarrassing Na'vi or Avatar  related thing that has happened to you?

not sure on this one...I guess the actual feeling after watching Avatar the first time. That was a weird/new experience...I was totally unprepared for it.

# 20    What is your favorite place in CO?

Rocky Mountain National Park  (see the pictures in question 1)

It is like Pandora on Earth for me.   :)

Anyway thank you LearnNavi, for being an awesome group of people, and I hope to get to know more of you in the future. :) (I'll probably meet some of you next year in Seattle hopefully)
-Aketuan
