Before getting a domain name, we should see how we are getting on with Diaspora. So I can eventually host it happily (I do want to discover this works and what possibilities are available anyway).

My Debian server being already in service with most components installed, it should be very easy. I'll try to do this in the next days.

Verisign, the registrar for the .com and .net domains (among others), changed its policy last July to allow IDNs using the Latin script in general. This would remove the restrictions on ä and ì. (The hostname still must use only ASCII characters, so ä and ì would be encoded as Punycode.) ʼ is going to be a problem, though, since ' (U+0027) is not an acceptable character as it is an ASCII non-letter, and ’ (U+2019) is unacceptable as it is a general punctuation mark. ʼ (U+02BC) is acceptable as it is a letter, but it isn't on a standard Naʼvi keyboard let alone a standard US keyboard. (I have a custom keyboard that lets me type ʼ.) So, "na'vi.net" and "na’vi.net" are not permitted but, in theory, "naʼvi.net" is possible.

http://www.iana.org/domains/idn-tables/ has a list of all domains that allow IDNs and tables of the accepted characters for each.

Edit: no .org IDNs are available.

Edit: naʼvi.net is also available.

Interesting. But at first, we may be able to use a subdomain to learnnavi.org to set things up.

Ma Tsyesìka, my server is still there and coping. Since the last shortage, are you still here? Are you still up for this? When I get your answer, I can set this up quickly then. :)

Hey,

Yep definitely still up for it. On the translations front we need more doing, also my na'vi isn't great so also if someone could go through checking all the ones i've done (still most of them). Using a LN sub domain seems okay :) We can see who takes to it and ask them for suggestions too!

I am sorry, I have been caught by major projects.

But as I have been cleaning my server today, I will try to install this in the following days, for real... unless my current project is too overwhelming. I am really sorry.  :(

Diaspora is like Twitter. Just create an account on Twitter (I have one) and all will be ok. We can create a Na'vi social network on Twitter, kefyak?

We can create one on Facebook (it has more advantages) or on Twitter.

I am sorry, I ran out of time and completely forgot this. I'll have to place this aside for a moment, unless Tyesika managed to go further.
