Hey guys guess what!

"Are you interested in translating Facebook? Facebook is currently open for translating into many languages. Visit the Translations Application for more information."

Unfortunately, when i go to the Translations Application, it says something went wrong but I'm working on it.  This means you guys can start working on translating some of the key phrases on Facebook to help out.

That's awesome :D Unfortunately I can't really help for anything, but I'm sure LN's people can manage to do really good translations (:

what's cool is that, when editing your Facebook profile, editing the languages you speak; Na'vi is a language that is readily available to choose as a language you speak :D

As far as I can tell, using Facebook itself to translate is incredibly difficult, long-winded, and fraught with red tape.

There's another option - see the other Facebook thread in this forum. I'm using Keypuk nìNa'vi every day, actually. Most of the stuff is already translated, and it works pretty well.

I just wonder about the point of translating a service which makes it so hard for you to translate and the emails and such you get from facebook (or texts) will still be in english. I'm not trying to undermine what you folks are doing I think it's a wonderful thing I just think any UI updates the greesemonkey script will break and such. I'm currently working on diaspora which are accepting na'vi it's sort of an alternate. I have emailed facebook several times regarding this but it seems facebook just doesn't respond. I have made the case about pirate, 1337, being there yet na'vi an actual language with vocab and grammar isn't. We'll see how it goes, i'll be excited when facebook does adopt na'vi (if it adopts it) and likewise with google.

Luckily, we're not the only one working on this Greasemonkey script. It's been forked from a larger, sustainable project. So, those fears aren't exactly grounded.

This thread / project by this time is impossibly old. I don't think it works at all now. Facebook changes seemingly every day or week and there's no keeping up with it. At some point people made a javascript program to switch out some words on certain websites (like this forum or Facebook), but at the end of the day the quality is not that good and the html selectors it needs to use for Facebook almost certainly have changed in 6-8 years. And as Taronyu said in here years ago,

I would have been very surprised to see that this thing does still work there.
