One possibility to think about, especially with the films as far out as they are, the the Na`vi community could be asked to come up with some lines for one or both of the films. Disney went to the Lion King fan community for some lines when it created 'Lion King 2'. A friend of mine ended up being one of the contributors.

It's four years to speculate on how the sequels will be.

We can have fun with that, right?

Me and a few friends are having serious doubts about the sequels... Avatar was a 1 time movie, but it didn't seem like the kind of movie that could be continued forever like a few movies.
Well the sequels were planned from the beginning, so it's not like they are scraping the bottom of the barrel to milk a seeming cash cow.  Plus James Cameron has a good record with sequels.  As long as they don't go into milk the cash cow mode, it shouldn't be a disaster.

I think that JC knows how much is at stake with these sequels....I doubt he'll just churn out some senseless story to please the fans. I think it's a good sign he doesn't seem to be rushing it.

Don't forget that the first scriptment of Avatar was written over 15 years ago, and JC have probably had a few sequel ideas after that!

That they're released so tightly makes me think that both movies stories are connected in some way, possibly with a cliffhanger in 1st sequel.

I think I read somewhere that it WOULDN'T be a cliffhanger.. .but I might be mistaken  :P

this was what I was thinking about:

Landau also stressed that Avatar 2 won't leave narrative theads hanging, Hallows-style. "The next [film] will kick off where the next last one ended, but, just like Avatar resolved itself and doesn't feel like a set-up to another movie, you don't want Avatar 2 to feel like a set up for 3."

Excellent, I'm glad they're going to keep them complete, fairly separate stories. I think that's one reason films like Aliens and Terminator 2 were such big successes, they were all designed to be watched on their own.
