They may make fun of Avatar in saying the next movies are 4-D, but we all know Time is the 4th dimension!  <---- Not a nerd at all...  ::)

Well, it took a couple of years to release AVATAR, so it's not surprising.  And the back-to-back releases will be achieved by working on both movies at the same time.

Just think, you have 3+ years to get fluent in Na'vi before the next film!   :D

Now that's positive thinking! ;D
I wonder what will happen in the meantime? I doubt Fox is just going to let the franchise lay dormant that long.
I'm hoping for books. Actual novels, that is. Maybe even graphical novels!
Please please please no spin-off TV-series

Seriously though, LearnNavi.org will be one of the best places to stay involved in Avatar and Pandora. Karyu Pawl said it best at the Oklahoma Conversation on the Humanities when he said:

"We can't go to Pandora. But for many individuals, the next best thing is not only to immerse yourself in the culture as best you can, but to try to speak the language... which maintains a connection to that world."

That is why we are here!

WOOHOO! Can't wait for this.

Skxawng

Well three years is a while but as Cameron is the king of sequels, I'd say its worth the wait

Actually, the 4th dimension isn't time in modern physics, it's another Euclidean space.

Ouch, I got out-nerded.

It's all relative.

...which brings up the question of how time fits into all this....

Me and a few friends are having serious doubts about the sequels... Avatar was a 1 time movie, but it didn't seem like the kind of movie that could be continued forever like a few movies.

Well, I'm re-assured by the fact that it's been stated that each of the movies will tell a different, yet related story.  I still have high hopes for more of Dr. Norm Spellman!

Well the sequels were planned from the beginning, so it's not like they are scraping the bottom of the barrel to milk a seeming cash cow.  Plus James Cameron has a good record with sequels.  As long as they don't go into milk the cash cow mode, it shouldn't be a disaster.

I think that JC knows how much is at stake with these sequels....I doubt he'll just churn out some senseless story to please the fans. I think it's a good sign he doesn't seem to be rushing it.

Patience is a virtue even on Pandora. Good things come to those that wait. Our young ones may have trouble with waiting but it will teach you to appreciate the very act of anticipation that can take years of your life to learn. As far as this becoming a cash cow, I rather doubt that is the intent of JC. Pandora and the Na'vi are, afterall, his creations. That very fact is a window into the heart and soul of a mind that has birthed a world, a culture, and the beginnings of this language we all love that has evolved far beyond his and our beloved Karyu Pawl's imaginations. I believe we will be amazed, astonished, and uplifted again with the release of the next two films. I for one, am counting the days.
