Wanted to let the Na'vi Community know that Dr. Paul Frommer will be in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 7th for the Oklahoma Humanities Council's Conversation in the Humanities event at the Philbrook Museum of Art beginning at 7pm. Dr. Frommer will share his experiences of creating a new language for the "big screen" and share insight on how language affects culture. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit our website www.okhumanitiescouncil.org.

Oooh, that sounds fascinating. If someone does go it would be great to get a recording of this.

Neat, I'd love to see that! Sadly, I live way too far away

okhumanities

It will be recorded and placed on our website about two weeks after the event. I'm sure there are many who are not from Oklahoma but I will definitely keep everyone in the loop once the recording is up and running!

That should be full of fun and enlightenment.  I wish we could get Karyu Pawl to Houston for something like this, maybe at Rice University.

It's the 7th, not the 23rd, right?  If it was on the 23rd, I could be there.

Sorry about that! Yes, it is on October 7th. Don't where October 23rd came from :)

Kxalti!

As promised, I wanted to let everyone know that Dr. Frommer's talk is now up on our website. You can download it by visiting our website: http://www.okhumanitiescouncil.org/audiovideo-downloads  :)

Awesome, thanks!
Heads-up though; the link is broken, there's a superfluous period at the end.
We learn from our mistakes only if we are made aware of them.
If I make a mistake, please bring it to my attention for karma.

Awesome talk!
Yeah, I needed 3 attempts to download as well, but it worked.

So touching to hear him speak about the workshop experience ... I feel it really touched him :)

Follow-up: He speaks about a TV and radio interview that he had been giving. Does anybody have information about these?

Payoang found the link for the radio interview and posted it here.

The TV interview can be found here.

Edited to add that happily I was able to attend this event, and posted about it in the Calendar section, where I have some pictures here; the pictures are in the spoiler tags.  :)
