I agree with you, a soft hum as background music would give me more Na'vi feeling...

Would you guys mind if I created an mp3 version of this for downloading from LN?

I don't know what Talis has to say to that but we (moe, that is :D) were thinking about providing you guys with the 'original' version that Talis made – no drums or bass, just his voice with an accoustic feel. I would be much in favour of it.
Let's see what he has to say about it :)

I was actually trying to translate Silent Night by myself, it was close but this is a great version!

I'm probably wrong but shouldn't TON in the ending of HIVAHA NÌMWEY MÌ TON be TXON?

Well, there are various versions on 'Rrta, why not on Eywa'eveng? ;) What I mean is, if you want to give it a try and translate your own version, why not? I, for my part, think the more Na'vi material, the better ;)

No, + still causes lenition which makes txon into ton
;)

Kea tìkin ;) We all forget lenition from time to time :P

Well, a bit of the German text, a bit of ideas from the Irish version, a bit poetic licence ;) I wanted it to be believable in the Na'vi cultural context (as far as we know it...)
So,
fratseng lu atan, could be interpreted as the bioluminescence that exists;
nìmwey 'evit sì sa'nokit nìn
'evit a lu 'ewan sì sevin
, could be interpreted as the celebration of life through the wonder of birth
tìyawnä atanit Eywal terìng
nawma sa'nok tìhawnu sivi
awngeyä tìreyur kifkeyursì
, transfers it into the Na'vi world ... whatever way you want to read/inerpret it, be my guest ;)
