That was a really interesting early discussion, which came about at the inception of the lexical expansion project. Although I think we have come a long ways with letting lìʼfya leNa'vi be what it is, it can never really evolve as-is into something that could be used as a first language today, or even for most casual communication. But even if a 'modern Naʼvi' were to evolve, I think there would be a strong desire to keep the original language pure to its culture.
