That's awesome.

Wow.

Best portrait of me. Ever.

On another note, I wonder why one of the commenters thinks that "the voice is all wrong." I didn't think the pronunciation was all that bad. (The trilled r, sure.) I assume she means the voice quality - which is odd, if you think about it. The Na'vi would have deeper voices than we do, for a start - my voice is probably more like what the Na'vi would have sounded like than their own human voices in the movie...

Actually, Taronyu, your trilled R seems quite nice, especially on mrr.

I am not sure their voice would be deeper. Although the air is denser, and the Na`vi are taller, they tend to have fairly slight builds, and thus (I think) would have a chest volume similar to ours.

Sure, but they have a descended glottis. More than we do, anyway. If indeed they have a glottis (I assume they do...)

Here is the list of the Garmin words we translated. There may be one of two errors. Pxasik, if so.
Is this list the same as in PDF file which was available at the download page of Na'vi voice for Garmin? I deleted my copy accindentaly, but Garmin web was changed and PDF is not available anymore....
If someone has this file, can you provide it to me?
Irayo.

Ma Blue Elf, if you click the Spoiler in the original post of this topic, you will see the list and you can copy it from there.

He is referring to that list. My expereince with the device is-- and I use it almost every day, primarily to get good at catching Na`vi-on-the-fly-- is that this word-list is accurate. Every now and then, I think I hear something that might not be there, but when I look, it is.

One example is distances. For miles and fractions, it might say something like mi muve 'it fya'oä min ftar If you touch the upper left corner of the display, it will display the (approximate0 test of what the device last said, and say it.

If you want, I have all the words in a text file, and I can easily make it into a PDF if you want it that way.

Interestingly, the Avatar voice is offered on the British English page, but not the American English page.

Na`vi or no Na`vi, this device has been one of the best $100 I have ever spent!

Irayo ma `Eylan Ayfalulukanä,
it is enough for me to know that this list is correct, PDF is not necessary.

Necroposting a good bit here, but is there anyone out there who still has the voice file for this? I can't find it on the web anywhere anymore, and I'd love to install this on my Garmin!

PM me if you can't attach it in a public forum.

It is not available on the web for a longer time, but I believe I have it somewhere (although I don't own Garmin :D) searching.... I'll let you know if I find it.

I think I found my copy:  Avatar.vpm

Give that a try.  I can't find the directions, but as I recall it was pretty easy to install.   Consult the Google oracle if in doubt.  :)
