Irayo! Quite a short article though  ??? I'd thought it'll be bigger.
[/quote]

It does look small in the on-line version, but was quite large in press (on to two pages and headline news).  :)

This story was front page news on the Kelowna Daily Courier today (Kelowna is the city I live in) - thought some of you might like to see it.

Hello,

Just wanted to let you know that with the exception of the Italian version of the survey, which was only created on July 30th and will remain open until Aug. 5th, the Na'vi research surveys are now closed.

Here is a tally of how many people filled in each survey:

English (including kids) = 204
German = 32
Russian = 23
French = 14
Na'vi = 11
Hungarian = 6

As many more people filled in the survey than I anticipated, I ask your patience as I tally up the answers to the questions (which were all open-ended).  I hope to provide the results in stages starting with the more quantitative data (age, gender, nationality etc).

If you speak Italian and did not get a chance to fill in the survey yet, you can find it at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NAVIITA

Irayo to all who participated!  You are such an enthusiastic and helpful community.

ta, Christine

Hello all,

Last week the Canadian Press (a national wire-service) interviewed me about my survey on the Na'vi language and its speakers. Since then many news sources have picked it up including CTV.  Dr. Frommer was also interviewed and it turned out pretty well despite a few poor word-choices (i.e. I don't work on "extinct" languages, but "endangered" ones and I didn't teach a class on "imaginary" languages).  There is also a Na'vi typo - can you find it?

You can see one of the stories here: http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/SciTech/20110807/people-learn-avatar-language-110807/

Results are coming soon...

Cheers,

Christine

Wow, another wonderful article! :D It was truly interesting and nice to read. :) The Na'vi typo has been fairly easy to find hrh. ;)

Just read that...a user actually posted it on another Avatar forum I'm a member of lol. And of course I found the Na'vi typo as well lol. I love all these articles that are popping up. A year and a half later and we're still getting press :D

The Na'vi typo

"learnavi.org", "kalxi" :P

That's 2 Na'vi related typos.

But since the first one is the website's address, isn't it correct that the glottal stop isn't there so people don't think it's part of the address? :o It's been removed in the website logo as well, hasn't it? :)
