Construction of the VMware server to host our new Cisco Webex-based online collaboration and education platform is almost complete. We had a successful initial test of the system today. Only things left to do are to tidy up the SSL cert configuration and get the system decorated in LN colors and imagery, and we'll be ready to do some public tests. If anyone wants to be on that test team, please let me know.

Stay tuned for more info on this exciting new LN facility!

(Last few messages regarding flag icon split to new topic.)

The SSL cert issue is fixed and we are ready to test. I need about 5 or 6 geographically diverse people that can be available at a common time in the next few days for a test of the conferencing system. It will only take 10 or 15 minutes. If you want to participate, please PM me your email address and a password to use on the Webex server.  Note: See update a few posts down...

Thanks!

Update:

Testers should have a working mic and cam for their machine. Also, to create an account on Webex, I need an email address, first name and last name. Also the time zone you are in.  The system will email you to set your password.  -Markì

Would be worth to explain what this server is? I have absolutely no idea and I'm not more clever on quick look to the documentation...

Ma Blue Elf, I'm in the process of writing up a "user manual" sort of document, but I can give a short form description here:

Webex is an industry standard, web-based online meeting application. Online meetings are when a group of people connect to the server and select a meeting number to attend. There is typically a presenter and an audience. The application allows for video, sound and the sharing of your desktop or application running on your computer. It also has a "white board" feature where the presenter can type text or draw, just like on a white board, and everyone can see it. Since it is internet based, anyone anywhere in the world can participate in a meeting. For LearnNavi, this means a teacher can schedule an online class at a certain time and up to 19 students can be there. The teacher can share prepared slide shows, or type on the white board.  Also, the entire meeting can be recorded for archiving and playback by anyone at a later date.  I will be conducting a Webex demo next week and will post a message here about it, soon.

Thanks for explanation - so it looks like somehow better Big Blue Button, right?

Yes, it looks promising.
However, unlike BigBlueButton, it is proprietary, commercial software, and technical difficulties may arise.

edit: This is no complaint nor request, only technical notice. I do respect the fact that everything is created for masses, minorities must adapt yourself.

I will have to try WebEx to see if it will work for me, as I likely have a setup similar to Tanrì.. I recently tried another meeting software, zoom, and it did not work well on Linux, despite (supposedly) being Linux compatible.

Nope, it's a Cisco product.
