Les langues fictives sont-elles des langues vivantes?

Some of the Na'vi examples at the end are wretched.  O.F. suspects they came from the insults thread.

Tirea Aean

Id say they are...and I believe they did come from that thread...

I seem to recall that thread getting used in some other news story.  This is an annoying trend, if my memory is correct.

My goodness.. :-X

Evidently, those sentences were not chosen well at all and, quite frankly, they end up making Na'vi look like a rude language. Maybe the author(s) of the article picked those to exemplify the fact that Na'vi can be used as a "living" tongue in everyday life?

The weird thing is that the rest of the article actually makes sense and is interesting. From the Na'vi examples at the end, people who don't know French may get the impression that the whole thing is a piece of crap, but I honestly don't think it is. As far as I'm concerned, the written bits are nice. However, I must admit that the fact that the author NEVER puts capital letters to the language names he mentions did annoy me a lot.

One of those was made up by someone called "umängam fra'uti" [sic] ;) on the third day of the forum, I can not even remember it was assumed to be umam, quite a while ago, huh? :)

:o :( Well, that was embarrassing. Yep, if you google "Na'vi insults" that thread is the 4th on the list. Yikes.

In any case, interesting find ma William. It was fun to read a little French too, haven't done that since high-school (Na'vi subtitles really help, :D).
