Well, just to say, Na'vi was used as the Final Jeopardy in the show today. Question was under the Movies and Languages category, and the question was "Created and used in 2010 (Semi-true) by Paul Frommer, and referred to as the 'Second Klingon'". Kind of neat, no one got it, but I got the answer before the question was even told.

Argh. I watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every day...the one day I decide to NOT watch (friends came over) is the one day this happens. At least I saw the wheel of fortune puzzle for Avatar (February 24th) :(

I just googled the Jeopardy game recap...the original question was: A 2010 article from Slate called this language created by Paul Frommer "The new Klingon"...
2010 was the year of the Na'vi.Vivar 'ivong Na'vi!

Really? We're the "2nd Klingon"? Interesting.

Anyway, that's kinda unexpected but cool that Na'vi/Paul Frommer was featured on Jeopardy. Anyone got a picture/video of this?

I am reasonably certain that we must have at least one member on learnnavi.org from Sony, who might have had some tiny impact on that happening.  But, pure speculation at this point as to who that member actually is.

He said it like I do- "Nahvee"

Nooooo! There is a tìftang in the word Na'vi! That's what the apostrophe is. It sounds like "Nah-[stop]-vee."
Sorry, as I said in my previous post "I am a pronunciation 'na'tsi'"

I know, when I'm actually practicing the language, I say more of a Nah'_vee kind of thing, but other than that, it's very American English.

That's how I pronounce it in everyday English...the pause is awkward when you're trying to explain what Na'vi is to someone who has never heard of it.

I only pronounce it with the stop ["nah-(pause)-vee"] when practicing or such.

I've trained my family and friends to say it with the stop so it's less awkward. ;)

Hard to do that...nobody else I know really cares about Avatar. All but of my 3 friends get annoyed if I mention it. Then there's the small group of Twilight and Harry Potter fans...if I bring it up near them, they get more than annoyed, they get completely PO'd.

It also doesn't help that I can barely speak Na'vi myself. I seem to have developed only half the skill :P - I can read it fine if I have a dictionary (vocab is slowly getting better), but can't write/speak it beyond simple sentences and canned phrases...
