Special Avatar IMAX 3D Showing

 AMC Theaters is running special showings of Avatar Friday (4/16) and Saturday (4/17) in selected theaters. We just got back from the Friday one and it reinforced my resolution to forever support the Na'vi language. 'Ivong Na'vi!

This is probably the last chance before the summer re-release to get an IMAX Avatar recharge, so check your local theaters to see if they are participating in this showing!

Well I missed...  BUT one of the local theaters is keeping Avatar on their screen for at least one showing until at least the DVD release day (Which is as far ahead as they had showtimes listed for.)  I'm tempted to go to the 9:00 showing then straight from there to the midnight release event at Best Buy.

Well, Avatar is still on at the bfi IMAX until after the disc release. So if you're feeling really funny, you could buy the blu ray disc and then go and watch the movie.

ya, this is the first week... since week two... that the theater count went up! by 46 theaters!...

and the %change was also positive!

problem is i could not go, even though i really would have liked to. 

I havent seen it in IMAX yet...

I can definately say something about the IMAX 3D version.  I would want the Blu-ray version to be IMAX 3D rather then RealD 3D.  Better Picture, Better Audio, and you actually can hear people speaking in the background a LOT more clearer.

I saw it in both, but i really couldn't notice that much of a difference.

My local Imax in Bradford, England, is showing Avatar again, 2 shows per day, from April 26th onwards. Can't wait

It's probably the last day they're showing it, before the IMAX screen is swamped by Iron Man. And the cinema is within walking distance. I need moral guidance!

It seems to me like there was a slight difference in the theatrical version and the DVD release. Some of the previously uncaptioned lines that Tsu'tey has at the ikran rookery appear to be captioned now.

James Cameron did say that this was intended to be the bare-bones movie. We're just gonna have to wait for the uber-box-set that is supposed to come out later this year.
